General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is doing his best to make sure that the people he loves most in this world aren’t harmed because of his choice to be a career criminal. It’s a lifestyle he’s been committed to for years and he knows he has no way out of it now, not that he wants one. That’s the real trouble with Sonny and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Nina wants Sonny to be the simple-minded, cheerful, bartender she found in Mike. His compassion and rational mind are still there, but the dark side of Sonny is something she’s never been fond of. Nina hasn’t been keeping her distance from that side of Sonny’s life because she has a distaste for it; she hasn’t wanted to admit to herself that Sonny isn’t Mike.

General Hospital Spoilers — Sonny Corinthos Keeps His Distance

Right now, Sonny is keeping his distance from Nina the same as he is from Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and his children. Nina isn’t being singled out, but it felt that way when she showed up at Sonny’s penthouse and found Carly and Sonny nearly embracing while tears dropped from her eyes. When Sonny told Nina she needed to leave and not come back, it left her feeling iced out and isolated. She doesn’t see how they can forge a path forward with this relationship if they aren’t spending time together, and maybe that’s because their time together is the only thing that lets Nina continue lying to herself that Sonny isn’t all that different from Mike.

General Hospital Updates – Nina Reeves Has Too Much Time On Her Hands

Nina is armed with some pretty damning information that could put Carly away for a long time. Giving her an unending amount of free time to mull things over probably isn’t the best approach right now to keep Carly out of jail. That being said, Sonny needs Nina to stay in the clear so he doesn’t have to worry about her getting caught in the crossfire of his wars. Nina, on the other hand, needs a way to keep up the ruse that this relationship with Sonny can work as long as she pays no attention to the dark side of Sonny’s life. That’s harder than she realized it would be once the dark side takes over everything they shared.

Carly Spencer Pays The Price

Ultimately, Carly is still going to pay for her mistakes, but she might only pay for them because Nina wants to stick it to her. When the SEC is tipped off that Carly was engaging in insider trading, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is going to be certain to take the fall with her. That’s going to be hard, but Carly and Drew will manage to convince the authorities that Drew wasn’t involved, and that they weren’t a couple.

However, that won’t protect Michael Coritnhos (Chad Duell) when they turn in his direction and believe he was the person who gave Carly the insider info on the ELQ and Aurora merger. It seems that Sonny’s distance won’t make Nina’s heart grow fonder but colder. Will he be able to forgive her when he learns she turned the police on his ex and his son, or will Nina have to face what it’s really like to see Sonny’s dark side?
