General Hospital and love in the afternoon have not been coming together the way they should of late with all the wrong couples being forced down our throats and the right couples taking too long for anything significant to happen between them.

General Hospital’s WRONG Pairs

When it comes to couples who just should not be together, GH has them in spades. Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Austin Holt (Roger Howarth) and Maxie Jones (Kristen Storms) are just two that come to mind. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) are going to make us gag mainly because Cody is such a horribly misogynistic character.

Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) should already be together as their first kiss was months ago and now they pretend it never even happened as they dance circles around each other in a contrived story.

And now we have Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), a couple that fans have wanted for years finally on the precipice of something…something that is taking way…tooo…long. And why?

Valentin And Anna Aren’t In High School

It’s bad enough we have Chase and Brook Lynn acting like two high school teenagers. Anna and Valentin are both mature adults who have done and seen it all across the world. Anna is not just a mother, she is a grandmother, and she has kissed her share of princes and frogs.

She is worldly, intelligent, and has an enormous heart. Her heart and her mind know Valentin is lying through his teeth to her, but they also continue to do a dance where nothing ever moves forward. At first, it was due to James Patrick Stuart’s work on the Disney series Villians of Valley View, but that is on hiatus now and Stuart is available.

There is no reason why Vanna couldn’t have gone further at this point. As soon as Stuart was back full-time, this couple should have been on almost daily instead of our daily dose of Carly, Carly, Carly some more. Sure, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) could be fun, but not at the expense of other characters. Perhaps Vanna is now a victim to All Carly, All The Time.
