Steve Burton Files For Divorce From Longtime Wife Sheree
General Hospital veteran Steve Burton made headlines this past spring when he revealed that his wife was indeed pregnant, as she had indicated on her social media, but the child was not his. Now, the couple has made their split official.
Steve Burton And Sheree To Divorce
According to TMZ, Burton has officially filed for divorce with the date of separation being March 1, 2022. The papers TMZ got a hold of cited irreconcilable differences as a reason for the split.
In May, Burton was forced to make a statement after Sheree had described herself as a soon-to-be-mother of four, leading to fans congratulating Burton on another child entering his life. He explained he was not the father and asked for respect and privacy during this time.
“I wanted to clear something up,” he wrote in an Instagram story. “Sheree and I are separated. She recently announced she was expecting a fourth child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time.
Burton and Sheree met on the GH set back in the 1990s when he played Jason Morgan and she worked behind the scenes. They have been married since 1999 and share two daughters, Makena, 17, and Brooklyn, 8, as well as one son, Jack, 16.
A Rough Year For Steve Burton
Burton has been making headlines a lot of late. Last fall, he was let go from playing Jason Morgan on General Hospital when he refused to comply with Disney/ABC’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate and Jason had to be killed off once again, this time in a pile of rubble in the Cassadine tunnels in Crete.
Later, Burton was cast as Harris Michaels on Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, which streams on Peacock this week. Harris is the same character Burton played on Days of Our Lives back in the late 1980s when Harris dated Eve Donovan (then played by Charlotte Ross, later played by Kassie De Paiva) in high school.
This time he is involved with Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) and not the man she thinks he is. Whether Burton ever returns to General Hospital as Jason remains to be seen. He has also played Dylan McAvoy on The Young and the Restless, another role he could always return to as Dylan left town and was not killed off.
