General Hospital star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) reposted an old State of Mind interview from August 2021. Well, at the moment he is reposting old conversations while he takes a hiatus. This weekend, he chose to repost a podcast because of its initial popularity. It came just a day after he told fans they can look forward to a new interview with Genie Francis on November 16. Read on for more details and find out if the old conversation is still of interest.
Out Of The Archives
Maurice Benard still keeps GH fans interested in his podcast that soon moves behind a paywall on Patreon. The throwback that he selected for this Sunday featured Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) and Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri). In it, the trio delved deep into love, family relations, and more.
It wasn’t an easy conversation, and Maurice kicked off the episode by talking about how he wanted to cry. Then LoCicero mentioned tissues and tears as well. Clearly, emotion was what it was all about. Of course, Maurice also mentioned writing his book that was so candid about bipolar disorder. If you don’t know, it was called Nothing General About It.
Parenting & Balance
Later, the conversation turned to the family of Lisa LoCicero, who discussed parenting her daughter. She’s trying to raise her child with a loving and soft approach but, at the same time, she can still say “no” to her child. Balance in parenting seems very important to her.
However, she did say that her “son’s an adult…and he’s like proof that I’m not a total piece of what because he’s so he’s so great. So, there must be something okay in me if he came out so so great.”
Often Maurice talks with people on his podcast about the fact that caring too much about what other folks think is a trigger for depression. Well, Lisa’s daughter seems free of that. She said she “doesn’t give a “sh*t” about what others think.”
Confidence & Caring
Meanwhile, Zamprogna related to the conversation about confidence and the opinions of other people. He talked about how personal self-confidence can be a challenge, clearly feeling that a lack of it can become deeply ingrained in our minds and cause a lot of hurt and anger.
Maurice Benard seemed a bit surprised by the direction the chat took. However, he shared his experiences with medication and what did and didn’t work for him. At that point, the conversation turned to sex. Libido was discussed, and Lisa laughed about Maurice expressing his libido in a “feisty way.”
Body Ownership
What stood out about the episode was the frank and open discussion about ownership over one’s body. LoCicero talked about how she was guiding her daughter to defend her body and be self-assertive. On the other hand, Zamprogna spoke from a man’s point of view, explaining that both males and females have anxieties about the subject, albeit different for each other.
The three co-stars came across with a very genuine connection and their stories seemed to flow naturally as they opened up about some truths that so often get buried. In the original comments section, folks wanted a return, and now they’ve had it. Many more comments followed on the repost.
Appreciating The Repost
Even though the podcast was a repost, many people appreciated it. Some folks had seen the original, but for others it was all new. So, one follower wrote, “Thank you for having Dominic & Lisa back on. They both have beautiful souls and a rare sensitivity. They are wise beyond their years. You always bring it, Maurice!”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion area:
