Maurice Benard Drops Birthday Special Preview For State Of Mind

Fans of General Hospital (GH) on ABC are all set for a treat this weekend as Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) celebrates his 63rd birthday. Read on for a preview of his upcoming birthday State of Mind podcast.

Recently, Maurice Benard sat down with Michael Fairman on his podcast and revealed that he’d be taking the hot seat. Meanwhile, Dominic Zamprogna, Sonny’s fictional son, Dante Falconeri, and Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri) would ask the questions.

At the time, they also joked about old age and how sixty doesn’t cut it anymore. Plus, there were hints of some spoilers to come, and a lot about mental health. Well, Benard  dropped a preview on YouTube, and it certainly seems worth tuning in on Sunday at the usual time for State of Mind.

The Preview

In the newly released footage, it became evident that Dominic Zamprogna and Maurice Benard share a close bond in real life. During the podcast preview, it showed, as anticipated, that Benard used his podcast platform to educate others on mental health awareness.

Maurice reflected on his unexpected career path away from General Hospital with the podcast. He said, “It’s almost, and whether you believe in God or you don’t believe in God, but it’s kind of the road I was supposed to take.”

In fact, he never imagined when he started acting at 20 years old that he would end up interviewing people. He admitted, “I barely graduated from high school. I could have never thought that way.”

The real-life Sonny Corinthos told Dominic Zamprogna “I did think when I got into acting that I wanted to be the best actor in the world. That I did think.”

However, he then said, “But not to be talking to these people I’m talking to. It’s unreal.” Finally, he concluded, “it’s all because of mental health.”

GH Fan Reactions Show Excitement

The announcement of the birthday special got a lot of reactions from ABC fans on the Michael Fairman podcast, but so far nobody commented on Maurice’s preview. Still, it’s worth looking at a few previous comments.
