On Sunday, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase) chatted on State of Mind and he said that he has a name for his anxiety monster: “Freddy Krueger.” Well on Tuesday, he backtracked on that while Buddy the Goat photobombed his serious thoughts. Read on for more details.
A Serious Chat About Anxiety
Of course, ABC soap fans know very well that the real-life and the fictional Sonny Benard battles with mental health. Very often, he talks about it on his podcast or some other social media platforms. But this week on Instagram, he found it hard to stay too serious.
Maurice went outside to tell his fans that he’d suffered from an “anxiety” attack “last night.” How did he deal with it? Okay, so he decided to “stay in the moment” rather than trying to “run” from the monster.
Don’t Let Anxuety be A ‘Monster’
But then, he said that letting anxiety be a monster isn’t right. In fact, he said that according to his wife, Paula, “Stop giving it power. It’s not a monster. The monster is in your thoughts.”
However, while talking about how dealing with anxiety is something mental health sufferers have to do because life is just what it is, his grandchild, TT, and his goat, Buddy, crashed the scene.

How to stay serious when a cute granddaughter laughs and giggles and hugs him? Of course, it’s not very easy. But when Buddy the Goat gets involved as well, there’s nothing to do but laugh that monster right out of life.
Animals and grandchildren simply can’t seem to exist alongside anxiety, and that smile completely changed the rather grim-looking Maurice Benard.

Naturally, his many fans reacted in the comments section. One of them to the ABC veteran:
Amen and to know that God doesn’t want us to stay in that mind phase! We are better than that, it’s ok to feel like that but don’t let it get the best of you! We have control over how we feel! God bless you Maurice and listen to your wife she is your medicine!
Yes, Paula is very supportive, and GH fans also know that his son, Joshua Benard, is as well. Oh, if everyone could have a Buddy and a TT in their lives. Some people are not so fortunate. But, they are fortunate to have access to the General Hospital star.
Case in point: A follower said to him, “My loneliness is what creates the Monster Anxiety. No family here and no friends. Wow! Not sleeping properly. Missing my late husband. Heavy load Maurice…”
In his reply, Maurice posted up two red hearts and a praying emoji. And, while we don’t know if that cheered up the sad fan, it certainly demonstrated that being all alone with Maurice in the world is less likely.
