GH Bluesy Burke Chats About Fame, Family & Mental Health
GH's Bluesy Burke opens up about anxiety, famous family, and joining the soap as a teen.

On Sunday this weekend, General Hospital (GH) star Bluesy Burke (Charlotte Cassadine) chatted with Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) on State of Mind. The 17-year-old became quite candid about her life and also discussed what it’s like growing up in a well-known family. Read on for more details.
Mental Health & Anxiety
The interview helped ABC daytime soap fans get to know the young actress a bit better. If you don’t know, she took over the role of Charlotte Cassadine from Scarlett Fernandez in 2025.
As usual with Maurice Benard, he steered the conversation toward mental health. After all, his whole State of Mind brand focuses on that. Interestingly, though you’d never know it, GH fans heard that Bluesy can be a “pretty anxious person” behind the scenes.
Like other folks who deal with anxiety, she explained to the real-life Sonny Corinthos that new situations get to her. And sometimes, her nerves affect the way she feels in her body:
I get like stomach aches coming onto set because like… it’s nerve-wracking.
Explaining further, Bluesy described how she feels “tingly,” which makes her fidget and crack her knuckles. However, she manages to control it using a special technique.

Known as “square breathing,” she checks herself, then she’ll “breathe in for four seconds” and hold it. Maurice listened closely as she admitted she might “freak out about it at first,” but she always makes herself “do whatever I’m nervous about.”
COVID-19 & Moving To NYC
Probably, everyone over the age of eight can recall the impact that the coronavirus pandemic had on the global population. Well, so can Bluesy Burke. For her, COVID changed a lot in her life. She explained that in 2021, her family moved from Los Angeles to New York.
Certainly, it seemed difficult for her, mainly because she’d left all her childhood friends behind. Saying goodbye was the hardest thing ever. The young GH star explained how everyone “just started sobbing” in the driveway as they pulled away.
But here’s the real tragedy of those years. Bluesy explained more about when they left LA:
I didn’t like know what my friends’ faces looked like for a really long time… because we were all wearing masks.
Of course, the move meant starting at a new school in the 8th grade. That happened toward the end of COVID and only added to her anxiety levels.
Living In A Famous Family
Maurice Benard brought Burke out a lot, and she got talking about her family. He noted that she comes from a “pretty famous family.” If you don’t know, her dad, Billy Burke, is also an actor. Perhaps you recall him from the Twilight Saga.
Talking about her dad, she seemed rather sweet describing him as the “clueless sweet dad” who brings the “comedic relief.”
Burke And Her Mom
Meanwhile, chatting about her mom, she explained that Pollyanna Rose moved from London to LA before switching from acting to fashion.
Next, she revealed a bit more about her mom’s new brand, Demeric. Interestingly, it’s a “tribute to her granddad” and features “leather bags,” “dopp kits,” and “silk clothing.”
Feeling The Pressure On The set
Joining General Hospital seemed quite startling for Burke, who talked as so many other actors do, about the high pressure filming environment for daytime soaps. On her first day, she got hit with “54 pages of dialogue.”
Unsurprisingly, she described it as “ridiculous.” Very stressed, she revealed that she was “shaking” through those first scenes. However, she credited her “support system” for getting her through.
Where Is She Now?
Bluesy currently lives in Los Angeles with her dad because that’s where the ABC soap films. But, during the occasional hiatus, she returns to New York to hang out with her mom.
Other upsides to that come with being able to just walk to a cafe in New York when she gets the choice. So, she admitted, NYC is “growing on me.”
Viewers React
Bluesy Burke and Maurice Benard found quite a lot of people who arrived to watch and comment. One of them opined, “I love this! Bluesy you are so personable and down to earth. Love you as Charlotte.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- …a sweet, wonderful gem! She certainly has claimed the role of Charlotte on GH and is WONDERFUL!!
- She is so well spoken and wise for her age. And how brave she is to face things that scare her and make her so nervous head on the way she does. I know adults who don’t do that…I think she is a great role model for young people.
- I love watching young people on SOM. I have young people in my family and love trying to make sure they are ok. If Bluesy was nervous you really couldn’t tell. It was good to hear she has a good support system in her life.
What are your thoughts? Do you think it’s a great idea for Maurice to have younger cast members on his podcast? After all, young folks also struggle with anxiety and other mental health challenges.
