General Hospital spoilers, news, and updates tease that Stephen A. Smith published his new memoir, Straight Shooter: A memoir of Second Chances and First Takes. The actor, who plays the role of Brick in Port Charles, shares why he wrote his book.
In his memoir, Smith shared his childhood experiences and how he overcame his struggles in life to achieve success at ESPN. In an interview with Good Morning, America, Smith said he wants his readers to be inspired.
“I want them to be motivated. I want them to understand that you’re going to go through peaks and valleys in your life. You’re going to have moments where you think everybody’s against you, nobody is supporting you,” he shared.
“It’s all a lie. There’s always somebody willing to extend a helping hand. It’s not about whether or not you get knocked down. It’s about your willingness to get back up,” he added.
Maurice Benard Comments About Smith’s Memoir
Maurice Benard, who plays Sonny Corinthos on the soap, joked about the similarities between his memoir titled Nothing General and Smith’s book. The actor posted a video on Instagram where he poked a little fun at his good friend.
I know you want me to buy your book,” Benard said.
“But the thing is, I don’t read. The last book I read was the New York Times bestselling Nothing General About it. But since you’re gonna come on State of Mind, I’m here at the bookstore and I’m gonna buy your book,” he added.
“Thirty bucks? Thirty bucks? Mine was like, 23 bucks! Come on, Stephen A. Thirty bucks?” he joked when he looked at the price of Smith’s book.
Benard may have joked about Smith’s book on the video, but he did say something special about his dear pal in the caption of his post. He shared that Smith has been a good and supportive friend. He added that he was very proud of his friend and hoped his book would sell 10 times more than his book.
Marcus Coloma To Leave General Hospital
Elsewhere, Marcus Coloma, who plays the role of Nikolas Cassadine, will soon leave General Hospital. His last scenes will air at the end of January, and when he does, his character will still be around. There’s no official news as to who would take over his character, but the most logical choice is Adam Huss. The latter previously took over the role when Coloma was unavailable, so the soap may tap him once again to fill in until Nikolas’ exit arc is finished.
