General Hospital Spoilers: Why Are GH Babies So Big – Rebecca Herbst Explains Infant Actor Rules

General Hospital spoilers and updates tease that fans are talking about the huge newborns and wondering why GH babies are so big. Rebecca Herbst, who plays Elizabeth Baldwin, took to social media recently to explain infant actor rules.

General Hospital Spoilers: Some Fans Are Complaining

Some fans are complaining that the show needs a pediatrician who can explain that newborns aren’t the size of six month olds, while others just ooh and ah over the cuties. The complainers apparently cite the lack of realism, while the non-complainers are just glad they’re not using dolls or swaddled bread loaves. Rebecca applauded one fan who pointed out that unrealistic dolls or worse would be the alternative, although she did mention rules had changed since COVID.

Rebecca said that GH, and likely ABC/Disney, the parent company, are no longer comfortable hiring babies under the age of three months on set. She said she knows it’s hard to look past a “ginormous newborn” but cites a win/win with Baby Ace Prince-Cassadine (uncredited infant) and Amelia Grace Corinthos (Nathan and Owen Ford).

GH Spoilers: Rebecca Herbst Enjoys The On-Set Cuteness

Rebecca, a mother of three both in real life and reel life, personally enjoys the on-set cuteness even if Amelia is a bit large to have been an eight month baby. Esmé Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) gestational term was recently changed from eight months to nine months for the on-screen birth of Ace.

Rebecca also agreed with a fan who had commented the show had hit the jackpot of cuteness with the new babies, and older babies can actually do more than cry. They can giggle, splutter, respond to stimuli, interrupt scenes with baby babble, and all kinds of cuteness, and some mom fans already have Ace and Amelia married off in the future. There is a lot more that can be done with older babies script-wise, in addition to the safety measures.

General Hospital Spoilers: Sound Stages And Sets Are Hot

Sound stages and sets are hot, and sometimes actors work many hours under bright lights, and that also can be hard on small babies, children and animals as well. That’s one reason that there aren’t more pets in Port Charles, and Comet the horse isn’t on a lot; although there are union rules that come into play as well. Viewers may notice that babies and children are usually in much shorter scenes than their adult counterparts, and hot stages, bright lights and SAG-AFTRA rules are responsible.

As far as current storylines, one never knows who might have a bun in the oven next, although right now nothing is planned for Elizabeth. Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) are fair game although Joss seems to be more likely than Trina right now!

  • So now Mac has a son and daughter he knows nothing about. Really don't care who Esme's parents, just don't allow Mac/Felicia to have anything to do with Esme's beginnings. It's hard enough to envision Cody as Mac's son, but this spoiler and it's explanation have gone much too far.
