General Hospital Spoilers: Sonya Eddy’s Posthumous Daytime Emmy Award Being Kept From Her Family

General Hospital (GH) spoilers and news reveals that the late actress Sonya Eddy’s (Epiphany Johnson) Emmy Award is the reason for a clash between her family and one of her friends.

The award was given posthumously after Eddy died on Monday, December 19, 2022 due to an infection following a scheduled surgery. The actress was 55.

Now comes news that Eddys’s Daytime Emmy win last week is causing friction between the person who accepted the award on her behalf and her family.

Tyler Ford, described as Eddy’s friend and producing partner, accepted the trophy and according to TMZ “her estranged family is determined to take the trophy from Ford and are upset that they did not receive it in the first place.”

Robbie told TMZ that the family do not plan on taking legal action against Ford or the Academy because they do not want to “tarnish her memory” and hope Ford does “the right thing.”

TMZ reported that Eddy was “estranged from some family members at the time of her passing as she did not get along with her brother due to fighting over who was going to provide care for their mother who has both Alzheimer’s and dementia. But Robbie claimed that “he was in the process of repairing their relationship just before she passed away.”

Oscar winner Octavia Spencer announced the news of Eddy’s death, which came after she acquired an untreatable infection following an elective surgery.
