Jordan Keeps Justine’s Secret
Justine was reassured by Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) that she wouldn’t tell anyone what she saw-and suggested that Justine and Sonny needed to be more covert.
Justine was grateful-but then called Sonny and said it was an emergency, and they met in their love nest over Charlie’s.
She immediately told him their secret was out, and started telling him they had to break it off-the preview for Friday, September 24’s episode she told him, “If I can believe you”.
That implies they’re discussing Sonny’s retirement from the mob, and the steps he’s taking to be known as a legitimate businessman. One thing he wants to do is to expand Corinthos Coffee.
Justine Eyes the DA Job
Justine is going to run for District Attorney, since Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) is officially stepping down after being on a leave of absence for at least two years.
That little statement to Sonny, “If I can believe you” seems to imply some doubt on the part of Justine that Sonny’s telling her the truth about leaving the mob.
When she first took over for Robert, Justine actually had some aspirations to take Sonny down and bring him to justice, since no other prosecutor could.
But as she got to know him better, she realized he wasn’t the hardened criminal he has the reputation of being-at least that’s what she told Jordan. But, the crux of the matter is, not only if she can believe Sonny-but IF she believes Sonny-and if he can trust her!
Will Justine Sacrifice Sonny?
Justine has a chance at her dream job-but will she sacrifice Sonny to achieve it? Very soon there will be an opportunity to test that theory out-Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) and Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) will be beaten in prison.
Sonny has people in the prison who protect certain inmates, because he’s doing it for their families, and Curtis has assumed he’s one of them who’s being protected.
It appears someone is setting up for Sidwell to be beaten and for Curtis to be protected, as an inmate told Curtis to not be in his cell, which he shares with Sidwell, during lunch.
However, Sidwell made a huge display of “if he dies, Sonny’s to blame” to Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
So, if Sonny’s set up to take the fall for a prison murder-or near murder-what will Justine do-take the opportunity to prosecute him and win at all costs, or defend him at all costs?
