During the closing credits of the episode aired on Friday, February 13, Hughes’ name was surprisingly missing from the list of regular cast members, as well as the recurring actors and actresses featured that day.
Anna Has Been Part Of The ABC Soap Since 1985
To say it’s stunning is an understatement; Anna has been a crucial character in the daytime drama since she first appeared in Port Charles in 1985.
As a leading lady of the ABC soap, she has consistently played a significant role in various storylines, particularly since 2012.
Although neither General Hospital nor Hughes has released an official statement regarding her contract status or her future with the show, the absence of her name in the closing credits is a significant development.
Fans of General Hospital are still processing the news of Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) announcing his brief hiatus from the show last week
. In an Instagram update, Burton shared that he wanted to dedicate more time to his family and plans to return in the summer.
Steve Burton Has Completed Filming But We’ve Heard Nothing From Finola
Burton has completed filming for the soap and recently discussed his break on his podcast with co-host Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli).
He confirmed that the reason for his “short break” was family-related, and he anticipated that GH would prepare some exciting storylines for Jason’s comeback.
Hughes, a nine-time Daytime Emmy nominee, won the award in 1991 for Lead Actress; if she has indeed departed from the ABC soap, it would be a significant loss for General Hospital.
Currently, Anna is in a mental health facility in France, attempting to persuade authorities (and those around her) that Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) is alive and that he kidnapped her.
Unbeknownst to her, this was orchestrated by Pascal (Marc Forget), Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), and the WSB traitor Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).
Will Anna Remain In France Until Further Notice?
Will Anna remain in France until further notice is a big question-it’s worth noting that it has been quite a while since Finola took a break-she used to do so annually.
Until her permanent departure is confirmed-if it is-this could be the reason for her absence.
Throughout her time on the ABC soap, Anna has been absent multiple times, often presumed dead; additionally, Finola portrayed her presumed dead evil twin sister, Alexandra Devane Marick, on both GH and All My Children.
General Hospital spoilers suggest that a Port Charles without Anna Devane is akin to French fries without ketchup or apple pie without ice cream.
It will be intriguing to see if the show or the actress announces an exit and what lies ahead for her character and the series.
