General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal shifty lab tech Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) has again left Port Charles, hoping for greener pastures.
With the big bucks Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) paid him, he may be gone for a while, but probably not for good-after all, his Aunt Selina Wu (Lydia Look) is still in Port Charles!
Brad The Baby Switcher
Brad is infamous for his role in a baby switch scandal; he ended up in Pentonville after claiming Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) as his, which led to losing Lucas Jones (Van Hansis).
The backstory is quite intricate: Brad and Lucas had adopted a baby from Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), whose biological father was Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin). Meanwhile, Willow’s twin sister, Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier), was pregnant with Michael Corinthos’ (formerly Chad Duell) child.
Tragically, the baby they named Wiley Cooper-Jones passed away from crib death.
In a moment of desperation, Brad took the deceased baby for a drive and encountered Nelle, who had just given birth to Wiley Corinthos. He was originally named Jonah, leading to their fateful swap.
The Deception Went On For Over A Year
It took until Wiley was nearly eighteen months old before the deception was discovered, and that was because of Brad being eaten up with guilt.
He’d revealed the truth as he and Lucas were arguing in the car, and they got in a bad wreck, putting Lucas in a coma for several months. Lucas, once he was woke up and remembered the truth did the right thing, although it was very painful for everyone concerned.
He gave Wiley to Michael, and Willow had to grieve the baby she thought she’d given birth to, finding out he’d died. Both Brad and Nelle did time in Pentonville before she eventually died, and it was years before the truth about Willow and Nelle being fraternal twins came out.
Brad Worked For His Aunt Selina For A While, Then Asked For His Lab Job Back
Brad worked for his aunt for a while, then decided he wanted his old job back; after pleading for his job back at GH, he promised he had moved on from his past.
However, Brad couldn’t resist temptation and soon found himself in hot water again; he and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) engaged in a risky game, and this time, Brad emerged victorious. The balance of power shifted unexpectedly.
The Chief of Staff believed she had him cornered, forcing him to comply with her demands, but instead, he betrayed her trust. Brad revealed to Drew that it was Portia who had drugged him, and he received a hefty payout of one million dollars; he bid farewell to his ex and left.
Will Brad Return-It’s Possible
Shen has been on and off playing Brad since 2013; his most recent run started in August 2024 and has now ended, but Brad has been absent before. Fans of GH have mixed feelings about Brad; he often tries to do the right thing, but it usually backfires.
Lucas is moving forward with Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo), so it’s best for Brad to take his million dollars and step back.
He should start anew and move on with his life; however, GH never completely shuts the door on the lab tech. He might return to Port Charles one day with a new partner and a fresh start; anything can happen.
