General Hospital Spoilers: Emma Samms Returns As Holly Sutton Scorpio

General Hospital spoilers and updates tease that fans have been wondering when Holly Sutton Scorpio, played by Emma Samms would be rescued from that room. Holly has been held captive, on the orders of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) since 2020 when her plane was reported down.

General Hospital Spoilers: Emma Samms Contracted Covid 19

There’s a reason Holly’s been gone so long, and that unfortunately was due to Emma contracting Covid 19 that turned into long Covid. Even the scene shown that revealed Holly was alive, not dead, was filmed in Emma’s own bedroom because she was in quarantine. Emma recently told Deadline, and Soap Opera Digest reports, that she couldn’t believe she debuted as Holly Sutton 40 years ago.

Emma also reports she is more than happy to reprise her iconic character and no one is more interested than her to find out what’s happened since Holly was kidnapped. According to producer Frank Valentini, she’ll be returning to the screen in October.

GH Spoilers: The Pandemic Caused Delays

Emma says her comeback was originally set to happen in 2020, but then the pandemic caused delays, not only for production, but for her personally. She notes that even when production was allowed to begin when vaccines were developed, she was not able to come back. She notes also that Frank Valentini, executive producer was extremely supportive and understanding, and finally after two years, she’s Covid-free.

It has been an extremely long road to recovery for Emma, who had contracted the initial version of Covid-19. It can be assumed that Emma is currently filming or just about to begin, since airdates are generally six to eight weeks after filming.

General Hospital Spoilers: The Backstory In Review

For the benefit of newer viewers who may tune in, as well as a review for current fans, here’s how it happened. Originally, Peter August ordered Holly’s plane to be brought down, but it was later revealed he was working with Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy). Robert Scorpio, (Tristan Rogers) Olivia Quartermaine, (Lisa LoCicero) and her and Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) son Ethan Sutton (Nathan Parsons) headed to Monte Carlo to check out a sighting at a casino.

However, when they got there they encountered Winston Rudge (David S. Lee) who was the new owner of the casino and verified Holly was dead. Current storylines have Laura Collins, (Genie Francis) Anna Devane, (Finola Hughes) and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) investigating Victor’s culpability in Luke’s murder; the search for those answers may turn up Holly.
