General Hospital Spoilers: Drew Uses Ava as Bait — But Is Sonny Really His Target?
General Hospital spoilers suggest Ava Jerome (Maura West) may have agreed to help Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) without realizing exactly what she signed up for. But Ava is smarter than this she should have known better.
Drew has promised Ava a chance to strike back at Sonny Corinthos, (Maurice Benard) but his immediate focus is Jack Brennan Chris L. McKenna and that could be a major clue about his true agenda.
Drew Recruits Ava for His Dangerous Scheme
After Ava’s latest tense encounter with Sonny during his summer barbecue, Drew approached her with an offer that was difficult to resist. He needed Ava to keep Brennan distracted long enough for him to search the WSB chief’s hotel room.
Drew also dangled an even more tempting possibility: once Brennan was dealt with, he and Ava could turn their attention to Sonny. And that is tempting to Ava.
Considering Ava’s current frustration with Sonny, she didn’t need much convincing and she did not think. However, Drew’s wording may prove important. He made it clear that Brennan had to be handled first before anything could happen with Sonny.
Could Sonny simply be the bait Drew used to secure Ava’s cooperation? Or is he really willing to help her?
Martin Questions Drew’s Real Agenda
Another clue comes from Martin Grey, who begins questioning exactly what Drew is planning. At the end of the day Martin does not really trust Drew. When Drew asks Martin to obtain something for him, Martin wants answers. Why does Drew need it, and more importantly, who does he intend to use it against?
Those questions could signal that Drew’s ultimate target isn’t nearly as obvious as it appears. Brennan certainly remains an immediate problem. As long as Brennan possesses damaging information that could destroy Drew, Drew’s other revenge plans remain vulnerable.
Sonny May Not Be Drew’s Biggest Enemy
Drew certainly has reasons to dislike Sonny, but Port Charles isn’t exactly suffering from a shortage of people on Drew’s revenge list.
His history with Willow Cain and Nina Reeves gives Drew much more personal scores to settle. Nina even sent Drew and his wheelchair plunging into the Quartermaine lake, leaving Gio Palmieri to come to his rescue.
Compared with those betrayals, Drew’s conflict with Sonny may not be his biggest priority. So why is Drew so against Sonny, he has plenty of other enemies to del with.
Sonny is, however, the perfect name to use when recruiting Ava. Drew knows exactly how complicated Ava’s relationship with Sonny is, making revenge against him an irresistible selling point.
Is Brennan Only the First Step?
Drew’s next move should reveal much more about his intentions.
If he uses Martin’s help to continue targeting Brennan and searching his hotel room, then Drew may simply be following the plan he outlined to Ava.
But if Drew suddenly turns his attention toward someone else, Ava could discover that she wasn’t really his partner at all. She may have simply been a convenient distraction.
One possibility is that Brennan is merely standing between Drew and his true target. Drew needs to neutralize Brennan’s leverage before he can safely make his next move.
That could mean Ava believes she’s helping launch a war against Sonny when Drew is actually preparing for an entirely different battle.
Did Drew Manipulate Ava?
Drew knew exactly which button to push. Mentioning Sonny gave Ava a personal reason to participate in his scheme without asking too many questions.
If that’s what Drew intended, Ava could eventually realize she was manipulated into doing his dirty work.
And Drew might want to be careful. Ava isn’t exactly known for reacting calmly when she discovers someone has played her.
General Hospital spoilers hint Drew’s Brennan scheme could be just the beginning. The bigger question is who Drew intends to target once Brennan is no longer standing in his way.
