General Hospital Spoilers: Ava Saves Sonny For Her Own Greater Good
For the last few months, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) has been living with a serious heart condition, unbeknownst to nearly everyone closest to him.
He has kept the fact that he needs surgery from everyone but Kristina Corinthos (Kate Mansi), Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), and Natalia Ramirez (Eva LaRue), while trying to put out unnecessary fires in his personal life.
He settled a custody battle with Ava Jerome (Maura West) and is trying to figure out who firebombed his penthouse as calmly as possible.
Sonny is also making sure that everyone around him knows exactly how loved they are by him, just in case his surgery doesn’t go well.
General Hospital Spoilers: Protecting His Family Is Sonny’s Top Priority Now
As Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) heals from third-degree burns in a German clinic, Sonny is determined to figure out who blew up his penthouse.
While he and Jason are working on that, he has moved into Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) old house. With its 12-foot hedges and top-notch security, it’s as safe as can be for his family.
Sonny is also on a mission to help Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) understand that spending time with Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) is always going to be dangerous.
The WSB head has enemies all over the world, which means that at any moment, she can be collateral damage.
Sonny doesn’t know that Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) is his biological grandson yet, but he has always been treated like a member of the family. Sonny has attended all of Gio’s concerts and paid for his schooling.
No one batted an eye when he recently handed over an envelope full of cash for whatever Gio may need in the future, but clearly, Sonny was thinking ahead and making sure that the young violinist had every opportunity to thrive.
General Hospital Spoilers: After Settling Their Custody Battle Ava Now Has The Upper Hand
Sonny and Ava have spent most of the last year fighting over their daughter, Avery. For the majority of the time, he wanted Ava out of the picture completely and then suddenly changed his mind, because of his heart issues.
Sonny now realizes that Avery needs both of her parents, especially if there is a chance that he may not be around for long.
Ava is so grateful that their court battle is finished, but it doesn’t change all of the hurt that he has caused her, not to mention the financial burden when she is already broke.
Ava is shocked this week, to realize that she finally has the upper hand. She has no idea that Sonny’s heart is failing so she is shocked to find him on the floor with his pill bottle out of reach.
Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) prescribed the medication to prevent heart attacks and Sonny is supposed to take a pill whenever symptoms strike.
Ava realizes pretty quickly that if she denies Sonny his medication he might die, which could make her life easier in the future. But she also realizes that helping Sonny will inevitably help her because he will owe her a favor, plus Avery needs a father as well.
If Ava saves Sonny then he will likely save her financially. It’s a no-brainer what Ava will do for the man that just weeks ago was publicly vilifying her, right?
