General Hospital (GH) Spoilers: Scott WORRIED Nina’s Hearing Will Affect His Romance With Liesl

General Hospital (GH) spoilers and updates tease that Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) will worry about Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) impending hearing, and how it will affect his romance with Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) if he loses the case, in an upcoming episode of General Hospital!

General Hospital Spoilers – Scott Baldwin Told Liesl Obrecht That Nina Reeve’s Chances To Win The Case May Not Be That Good

General Hospital viewers will recall from a recent episode of General Hospital that Scott had warned Liesl that Nina’s chances of winning may not be all that good. But Liesl had supreme confidence that Scott could get her niece off of the charges of fraud and identity theft related to her keeping Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) identity a secret during the nine or so months he was living in Nixon Falls, Pennsylvania as an amnesiac bartender named “Mike”. The case is a stretch because it really isn’t the kind of situation that would fall under the laws of identity theft, although it could be classified as a type of fraud. Sonny didn’t have any identification on him when he was found in the snowbank nearly dead of exposure in the woods when the hiker found him. He had lost his suit jacket which would have had his wallet and cell phone in it, and they never have been found. Nina stealing his identification or bank and credit cards would be impossible to prove, and she didn’t do that.

General Hospital Updates – Scott Baldwin Could Accuse Attorney Richard Sheridan Of Grandstanding

General Hospital viewers could see that Scott could ask for dismissal of the case based on the opposing attorney’s grandstanding. Grandstanding is defined as the action of behaving in a showy or ostentatious manner in an attempt to attract favorable attention from spectators or the media. In this case, Llantano County, Pennsylvania District Attorney Richard Sheridan (Richard Jahn) was running for Attorney General of Pennsylvania and accepted a large campaign contribution from Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) to prosecute Nina Reeves. Sheridan actually said that case would be career-defining and generate a lot of favorable publicity because of its unusual nature! In this case, the spectators would be the jury, and with Nina being the publisher of Crimson Magazine, a nationally known fashion publication, the media definitely would pounce on it! General Hospital viewers know that if Scott can get the case tossed out of court, to begin with, that would be the best possible outcome! However, with so many big players and the case being tried in Pennsylvania, that presents another potential problem for Scott. In real life, he may not be able to represent Nina because of the case being tried in a different state from which he is licensed, but General Hospital writers may have chosen to ignore that fact!

Scott Worries If His Romance With Liesl Will Be Affected If He Loses

General Hospital viewers can see how Scott will worry that his romance with Liesl would be affected negatively if he were to lose this case and Nina was given prison time! However, again, this is a different jurisdiction – the “crime” may have taken place in Pennsylvania but all the players except Sheridan live in Port Charles! Even Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) is in Port Charles now, running Charlie’s Pub! She would have had to have legally changed her drivers’ license to be able to work in a different state, or at least that would have been the case in real life! Again, General Hospital writers may have chosen to ignore that fact!

Scott could request what is called a change of venue – asking that the case be moved back to Port Charles, although in Nixon Falls the jury pool may actually be more favorable. General Hospital viewers will see that Liesl will strongly encourage, if not downright put pressure on Scott to keep Nina out of prison and win the case! It is likely he can get the identity fraud dropped, and he could always try to get the charges reduced – what is normally called a “plea bargain” but Nina still wouldn’t go scot-free – but since she has no criminal record, perhaps she could get probation. That won’t be perfect but at least she’ll keep her freedom!
