General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) may or may not be able to turn loose the power that comes from being the head of the Corinthos crime family back to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) when he eventually returns to Port Charles! General Hospital viewers can see that she’s become rather accustomed to calling the shots!
General Hospital Spoilers – Carly Corinthos Acts Like She’s On A Power Trip
General Hospital viewers will have noticed that Carly acts like she’s on a power trip lately – more than she usually does! Longtime General Hospital viewers will recall that Carly has always had an opinion which she was more than willing to share with, or force upon as the case may be, anyone; and usually very loudly! But General Hospital viewers undoubtedly have noticed that Carly has gone in recent weeks from being afraid to take her place as Sonny’s replacement to seeming to enjoy it.
It would seem that Carly’s filling in the gap for Sonny in the absence of Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) or anyone else appropriate has grown on her! Now she is making the decisions and calling the shots and planning the plans! General Hospital viewers will recall from a recent episode that even Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) was impressed with her – she had given Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) an extra burner phone which he was able to track in order for Carly to send a rescue team of Corinthos henchmen to the location.
Carly has taken authority over all the situations that Sonny once did and that Jason assisted with, and it may not be a role that she will find easy to give up! This Carly is a far cry from the frightened and helpless Carly of years ago who Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) locked up in a panic room!
General Hospital Spoilers – Eventually Sonny Corinthos Will Be Sonny Again
General Hospital viewers know that eventually Sonny will get his memory back, return to Port Charles, and be Sonny again. But that may be a while coming – several months at least according to some General Hospital spoilers. Once he does, however, several things could happen – if Jason doesn’t return and take over the role first. Either Sonny will be proud of Carly or there might be a battle; or they may become a team!
In the past, neither Sonny nor Jason, Carly’s best friend for years, wanted Carly involved in “the business” and it was for her own safety and that of Sonny and Carly’s family. The untimely and unfortunate death of Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) and the trauma endured by Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) in prison were very good examples of why Jason and Sonny didn’t want Carly involved. When the head of the family has a target on his back, his family members will too, in certain instances. Think the recent situation of Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) and Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and the targets on Gladys’ and Sasha Gilmore’s (Sofia Mattsson) back and her and Brando’s unborn child!
Once Sonny, and possibly Jason ahead of him, do come back to Port Charles it may be difficult for Carly to turn loose of the reins of power, having experienced being the head honcho – honchette? – and calling the shots. But in Sonny’s case, she may have to share power; in Jason’s case, maybe not so much.
