General Hospital (GH) fans finally saw newcomer Troy Lennon Appel make his first appearance on the ABC show as Hudson this week, and he followed that up with a social media post that was very well received by his many followers.
An Exciting Addition To The Cast
When the news arrived that Troy would join the ABC daytime soap, we reported that he seemed quite excited about his new role on General Hospital.
Yahoo Entertainment reported that he thoroughly praised the cast and all of the crew for the hard work they put into making the show work so well.
Executive Producer Frank Valentini correctly predicted that GH fans would be “intrigued” by the arrival of Troy Lennon Appel.
The Social Media Post
Just hours after his debut, Troy took to his Instagram account and shared some photos of himself on the set. He credited them to “Disney/Chris Bartolucci.”
In his caption, he wrote, “Hudson has arrived to Port Charles. Next stop: your heart. #nailedit.” Then he added, “Really happy to be here. @generalhospitalabc.”
Fans and Cast React
One of the first excited reactions came from fellow cast member Jonathan Bennett, who plays the role of Detective Joe on the show. He wrote, “Love you buddy.”
Then Bennett Pollack-Reeber commented, “I knew you’d make it stud!”
Of course fans of the show didn’t get left out, and one of them sweetly told the new Hudson character, “This calls for a celebration at Black’s Pub.”

A Nice Welcome
Certainly it seems as if Troy will go down a treat with General Hospital fans and cast members. He worked hard to get where he is today. Did you know that originally, he was thought to become Detective Joe Fitzpatrick? Instead, the writers created Hudson because he and Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) had great chemistry.
Ahead of the debut scenes this week, Primetimer wrote about how fans of the show seemed very curious about Appel’s role. They also noted, “He sounds like the kind of person who might show up in Port Charles with secrets, business plans, and connections that could make people’s lives difficult.”
Time will tell whether Hudson turns out to be everything fans are expecting but there seem to be no complaints about his acting ability.
