General Hospital (GH) fans briefly got excited when Serena Baldwin (Kelly Kruger), the fictional daughter of Scotty Baldwin (Kin Shriner), reappeared on the ABC show on July 30. Many fans hoped that Kin would also come back to the daytime soap.
Then and Now
While he often posts on social media now, it seems that Kin’s not hankering for the time before he vanished mid-arc. You might recall that Ava Jerome (Maura West) discovered switched meds for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Soap Central reminded readers that Scotty had been helping pharmacist Clement escape to Spoon Island after Clement became involved in the plot surrounding Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) switched medication. Scotty left to fetch snacks but never completed the journey.
Ahead of that, he posted on X in 2023, saying, “I just found out Scotty was written out.” But it was only in mid-August 2024 that he appeared for the last time.
Serena Mentioned Scotty
When Serena reappeared, she talked about her fictional dad, saying that he lives in Key West and is “enjoying life on the ocean.”
Well, she is still on General Hospital and continues scheming with Lucy. However, Serena’s mention of her father, which fans interpreted as a hint that Kin Shriner would return, hasn’t led to anything. Quite frankly, that has annoyed a lot of GH fans.
On August 23, Shriner responded to a fan on X, and his brief remark suggested that he isn’t expecting to return anytime soon.
Not Fitting In
When @TOCFAN slammed ABC for not bringing him back, they seemed angry, saying, “Shame on GH… they should be banging down your door, after all you have contributed to the success of GH… smh.”
Kin replied, saying, “I don’t fit in there.”
Reactions came fast, and Frank Valentini took some heat. In another comment, @TOCFAN wrote, “Well, that’s a crying shame… we love Scotty, & now would be the time to come back, but I guess I can see what you’re saying.”
Other Angry Reactions
Another reply said, “We miss you @kinshriner and hope that changes! @valentinifrank needs to reunite you with the loyal devoted @GeneralHospital viewers!”
Others agreed that it seemed very sad. Here’s a response that hit home for many ABC soap fans: “That’s crazy you be somewhere a lifetime and then you don’t fit in there… I’ve been there too… not a good feeling.”
As far as fans are concerned, Kin Shriner is definitely a fit for the GH show, and one fan even said they very seldom watch the show anymore.
Meanwhile, others argued that it has nothing to do with Shriner failing to fit in. Instead, they complained that the writers simply don’t know how to write properly for Scotty.
Sadness is real, folks, and another follower wrote, “I really miss you and Scotty. You always bring the fun with him.”
