General Hospital Comings & Goings August 17-21: Leading Man’s Contract Status, Character Exit

Maurice Benard’s Contract Status
General Hospital spoilers reveal that Sonny Corinthos may be exiting the mob, but does that also mean his portrayer, Maurice Benard, could be leaving the ABC soap anytime soon? Benard appeared on the Ty Butler YouTube podcast recently and talked about his contract with General Hospital.
The actor revealed that his current deal with the daytime drama is expiring in February or March of 2027. With that said, he did note he has no plans of retiring or leaving GH anytime soon.
Benard has been playing Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital since 1993. Before that, he played Nico Kelly on All My Children from 1987 to 1989.
During his tenure in soaps, Benard has been nominated nine times for a Daytime Emmy Award. He’s won a total of three times, in the Outstanding Lead Actor category: once in 2003, then again in 2019 and 2021.
So Long, Jacinda Bracken!
General Hospital spoilers confirm that Paige Herschell has exited the show. Her character, Jacinda Bracken’s last episode on Tuesday, August 11.
Jacinda initially entered storylines in April 2025 when she was hired by Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) to drug Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) in an attempt to break him and Willow Cain (Cynthia Watros) up. She left town shortly after, only to return in September 2025. This is when she and Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) started a romance.
Unfortunately, Jacinda drugging Willow to get back at her for that restraining order was a very bad idea. Michael was not only forced to break up with his gal pal, but he also sent her packing with a hefty sum to keep her (and him) safe from Willow’s wrath.
