General Hospital spoilers note it’s been a hot minute since fans have seen Nikolas Cassadine, last played by Adam Huss. The character is currently off-screen, serving a prison sentence, which opens a door for a return.
Laura Collins (Genie Francis) certainly could use his presence in Port Charles, and Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) would love to have her big brother return. Huss recently spoke with Soaps.com regarding a comeback.
Name-Dropping
Huss talked about the fact that Nikolas’ name has been dropped a lot within dialogue lately, and he stated he has an “open mind” about returning to the ABC soap. With that said, the idea of bringing back Nikolas is ultimately up to Genera Hospital’s executive producers and writing team.
Still, what would bring Nikolas back to the canvas? Huss was quick to point out that the character has a ton of ‘unfinished’ business with his ex-wife, Ava Jerome (Maura West). He added, “I would love to explore that and what’s there. I think there’s a lot with my mother, Laura, that I think needs to be set right.”
Nikolas’ Road To Redemption
In addition, Huss points out that it would be an interesting angle to see if Nikolas would exit prison a changed man or revert back to his old ways. Could Nikolas have a road to redemption returning storyline? Huss states, “How do you get this character out of there? And so now, somebody comes back reformed?
He added, “That’s a really wonderful thing to play that challenge of ‘How do I still fight for all I believed in but do it with this moral new moral compass that will keep me out in jail and out of making the same mistakes.’”
Huss wrapped things up by stating that while he doesn’t try to think about Nikolas daily, the GH character is always in his heart. He noted that he’d love to reprise the role whenever the time is right.
