Just over a year ago, Chad Duell who played the role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital (GH), opened up about why he opted out of his ABC soap role. And this week, it seemed that he verified exactly why he did that. Read on for more details.

On Thursday night, the former Michael Corinthos took to his Instagram and shared a selfie of himself with his little boy, Dawson. You might recall, Chad Duell and his partner, Luana started dating in 2022, and in 2023, they welcomed their son.
In his caption, Chad told his GH followers:
Took the lil dude for his first hike…did surprisingly well.
ABC Fans React
In the comments section, plenty of ABC soap fans showed that they still remember him fondly, and they wish he could return. Not that they don’t love his replacement, Rory Gibson.

Why Did Chad Leave?
In January last year, on The Daily Drama podcast, Chad explained that he believed it was time to focus on himself and his family. First, he mentioned that his dad passed away, which was a difficult time of process for him.
He also said, “I’m…just kind of…more about just doing things mentally [and] physically preparing myself for [the] next chapter… right now, I’m just trying to grow in ways that maybe I feel like I stifled myself in certain aspects and I need to [take]…drastic steps.”
Actually, the arrival of Dawson was also a major reason for Chad Duell’s decision to step away from the cameras for a while. As to whether he returns to General Hospital, well, that ball sits in the court of Frank Valentini.
Back In Front of The Cameras?
Although Chad Duell hasn’t returned to reprise his role of Michael Corinthos, he is filming again. The news arrived late last year, and apparently, fans can see him in a movie. One of those roles involved a terminally ill dad and a son who might be in trouble for assisting his suicide.
Another one involves a blind guy and a friend hiking in the wilderness when things go wrong.
