General Hospital Spoilers: Could Kirsten Storms Be Returning As Maxie?General Hospital spoilers and updates tease Kirsten Storms could be returning as Maxie Jones, although nothing’s been announced. A mysterious Instagram post with a selfie that was posted on August 14 is making her fans wonder.

Kirsten Last Appeared As Maxie In March,  And Written Out With An Offscreen Departure

Kirsten Storms made her final appearance on General Hospital in March, with her character Maxie being written out through an off-screen move to Australia in July. However, the actress hinted at a potential return to Port Charles with a recent social media update.

On August 14, Storms shared a selfie on her Instagram Story, captioning it, “Back in Cali. Back to blonde.

In the image, her hair is the same blonde hue she often sported while portraying Maxie. In her last post on August 8, her hair was hidden under a baseball cap, but the day before, she had posted a selfie showing her hair dyed brown.

Kirsten Announced A Move To Tennessee In July 2025

In July 2025, the actress revealed her choice to relocate to Tennessee. This is where her former husband, Brandon Barash (known for his roles as Johnny Zacchara on GH and Stefan DiMera/Jake DiMera on Days of Our Lives), had also moved recently. Along with her relocation, she decided to take a six-month break from her portrayal of Maxie, a role she has held since 2005.

To manage her absence, GH crafted an extended coma storyline for her character, who was poisoned by Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). At that time, Storms expressed, “I can’t wait to return to GH, once Harper [her daughter with Barash] and I are settled in our new town.”

In October 2025, She Updated Fans On Why She Wanted To Move, And Also A Health Update

In October 2025, Storms took to Instagram to explain the reasons behind her relocation, sharing details about her recent health challenges.

She disclosed that a brain scan at the beginning of 2025 had revealed an aneurysm on the right side of her brain, necessitating a medical procedure. Previously, in 2021, Storms had undergone a craniotomy to drain and remove noncancerous cysts from her brain.

She expressed, “For my own personal reasons, it was crucial for me to no longer reside in Los Angeles. The primary motivation for the move was Harper, but it was also significantly about my physical and mental well-being, as well as my overall happiness.”

In December 2025, Kirsten Again Updated Fans

By December 2025, Storms provided another update, mentioning that she was postponing the aneurysm procedure after seeking advice from a new neurosurgeon. She teased, “and maaaaybe you will be seeing me back in Port Charles soon.” Storms returned to work at General Hospital in January 2026, with her first episode back as Maxie airing on February 12.

In this episode, Maxie awoke from her coma to the shocking news that her husband, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), had returned from the dead, only to discover that he was actually an impostor off screen.

Kirsten Started Sharing Updates About Being Hacked, And Brandon Got A Restraining Order

Shortly after, Storms started sharing updates about her home computer network and personal devices being compromised. At the same time, her appearances as Maxie came to a standstill on March 13.

The show later explained Maxie’s absence by stating she was on an extended vacation with her partner, Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), and their daughters, Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher) and Bailey Lu Jones (Miley and Riley Plonski). James West (Gary James Fuller) remained at home.

In April 2026, TMZ revealed that Storms’s ex-husband, Barash, had obtained a restraining order against her. He expressed his “great concern [for her] ability to adequately care for the minor child” they had together.

Kirsten Again Provided Updates, Unsure She Would Return To Acting

Not long after, Storms took to social media to share her thoughts on her home computer network; in addition, Barash requested that she participate in a mental health evaluation. Fast forward two months, and Storms finally spoke out publicly about the ongoing situation.

She took to Instagram to express her feelings, stating, “I’m sure many of you have come across the stories circulating online about a situation involving claims my ex-husband is currently making.” She concluded her post with a poignant remark, saying, “As for my future, particularly regarding GH. Given everything that has transpired, I can’t confidently say that I will feel at ease returning to Los Angeles and resuming my work there.”

On July 23 Maxie And Her Family Were Written Out Of The Show

On July 23, the show appeared to wrap up Maxie’s storyline neatly by sending her off to Australia with Spinelli, Georgie, Bailey Lu, and her son, James (Gary James Fuller), where Spinelli had landed a new job. This transition leaves the possibility open for the blended Jones/Spinelli family to make a comeback in Port Charles someday. Currently, there’s no sign that Storms’ move back to California is related to General Hospital.

However, given the events surrounding the actress and Maxie in the past year, her return to California and her decision to dye her hair blonde again certainly raises questions. Particularly among fans, about whether her story in Port Charles might not be finished just yet.
