General Hospital Spoilers: Maxie’s Vanishing Act Sparks Fan Outrage, Is It Time for a Recast?

General Hospital spoilers and updates indicate that fans are furious over Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) absence, which is negatively impacting the soap and its storylines-a recast is urgently needed!
However, let’s take a step back; Kirsten Storms, who has portrayed Maxie since 2005, has been facing numerous personal challenges in recent months.
Kirsten Hasn’t Been Able To Come To LA
Consequently, she has been unable to return to Los Angeles to film at the GH set. The actress made a short comeback earlier in 2026 when Maxie emerged from her coma, but she hasn’t been seen since March of this year.
Maxie and Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) were on vacation with their daughters, which is why they missed the dramatic revelation involving Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey).
Cassius had been impersonating his twin brother, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), for several months, and this was finally uncovered in July.
Poor James West (Gary James Fuller) faced a significant shock when he discovered his” father” was leaving town, only to find out that he had actually passed away.
Cody Took On The Tough Challenge Of Telling James That “Nathan” Was His Uncle
In the episode aired on Thursday, July 16, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) faced the tough challenge of revealing to James that his father was actually his uncle, Cassius.
This revelation has left James harboring resentment towards Cody, leaving the latter heartbroken over his nephew’s response.
It’s quite absurd that Cody was put in such a significant position; this news should have ideally come from Maxie and Spinelli, or even Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) or Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati).
Nevertheless, fans of GH are eager to witness Maxie’s reaction upon discovering that ‘Nathan’ was not truly Nathan after all.
Not Involving Maxie In This Storyline Made No Sense, So Why Not A Recast?
They once shared a profound love story, and watching her process this revelation could shed light on her swift decision to choose Spinelli over Nathan. Clearly, something felt off for Maxie.
Did the ABC soap mishandle this plotline by not considering a recast for Maxie?
While it’s understandable that they wish to avoid permanently replacing Storms due to her unfortunate personal situation, Maxie has had temporary recasts before. So why not bring back one of those actresses to fill in temporarily?
Jen Lilley, Molly Burnett And Nicole Paggi Have Played Past Maxies
Ultimately, Jen Lilley, known for her role as Theresa Donovan on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), took over the character of Maxie in 2011 after Storms.
Additionally, fellow DOOL alum, Molly Burnett, portrayed Maxie sporadically from 2016 to 2018; more recently, Nicole Paggi filled the role temporarily in 2023, 2024, and 2025 as needed.
It seems that one of these actresses, or perhaps another, could have stepped in to portray Maxie during the entire Cassius storyline, providing insight into the blonde’s feelings about her late husband’s twin, Nathan.
General Hospital spoilers indicate that the show missed a significant opportunity here, raising questions about what lies ahead for Maxie and whether fans will ever discover her views on the Cassius-Nathan situation.
