General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the return of Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud, a 2022 Daytime Emmy Award) was hailed as a mini-miracle. The Britch coming back to PC after being dead? Oh, the soapilicious plots we looked forward to!
Instead Britt 2.0 has been a huge disappointment to tons of fans who simply don’t recognize this weepy, simpering version of what used to be a solid soap villain. What happened? Let’s dive deep and take a look at the ruination of Britt Westbourne.
Where Has Britt Gone?
If we didn’t know better, Britt 2.0 could be an imposter. Maybe the questions about her brother Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) being an imposter are just a diversion from the real doppelgänger, Britt. We don’t think so however, that would make too much sense.
Instead, we have been given a diabetes inducing version of the once polarizing Britt Westbourne who “died” back in January 2023. Britt died after saving Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and in her mom Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) arms.
Who is this Version of The Britch?
Prior to her death, Britt discovered she had Huntington’s disease, and that’s been a key element to her current storyline.
Britt debuted in 2012, a unrepentant villain and the daughter of Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) and Liesl Obrecht. Britt was Chief of Staff at General Hospital and her go-to bestie was lab rat Brad Cooper (Parry Shen).
Britt was a spirited and ingenious bad girl who was mega entertaining at the same time.
What Happens Next to Britt Westbourne?
We understand that characters grow and develop over time. But to see Britt go from a conniving vixen to a whimpering simp is—not just too much—we’re stuck looking at a monotonous onscreen flatline.
This Britt is afraid to reverse engineer her Huntington meds, the only thing that is tying her to an evil genius scheme she wants nothing to do with.
Her most recent humanizing moment came last week when she lost a patient and Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) caught her crying alone. Her response is understandable but the old Britt would have reamed out Liz for spying!
