General Hospital Spoilers: Let’s Unpack Jack – Are His Feelings for Carly Authentic or Artificial?
General Hospital spoilers reveal Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) is the latest man of mystery to take up space in Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) heart. If we’re being honest, he has been since the second he first walked into Bobbie’s and piqued her interest.
The way he sauntered in and flirted his way into the corners of her mind, somehow knowing that he would make a permanent mark, was a threat we all saw coming — except for Carly.
From Josslyn ‘Joss’ Jacks (Eden McCoy), to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), to Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) — they all tried to warn her, but Carly wouldn’t listen.
The chemistry between her and Jack was just too undeniable that she hopped into bed with a federal agent. Now that she knows the truth and can’t deny it, she’s scrambling to piece together how he played her, and it’s not a good look.
We’ve All Been There
Boy meets girl. Girl falls in love. Boy…claims he is too. Boy breaks girl’s heart. The rest, as they say, is history.
Carly fell for one of the oldest tricks in the book, though Jack’s motivations were far beyond that of a typical guy picking up a blonde in a bar.
Carly’s broken heart is in pieces, but she’s too busy piecing together how he pulled it off to focus on that right now.
When did he first start lying to her? When did he shift from being genuinely interested in her to seeing her as only a mark for his next conquest with the WSB? It couldn’t have been fake the whole time, right?
GH Spoilers Say Carly Comes Crashing Down
Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) cold words come as a brutal slap in the face for Carly. She assumed Jason and Sonny warned her against Jack because he was a federal agent, nothing more.
It made sense they wouldn’t welcome him into the family photo. She might have assumed Anna’s past beef with him was all about competition and possibly something that teetered on the brink of a romantic interest.
After all, Anna was known for her affairs with fellow WSB agents. But targeting her for an op to lure her young and impressionable daughter into the WSB was the last thing she was expecting.
Now, it’s too late to save Joss, and so Jack must pay. Will ending him also be the end of Carly though?
The Real Deal or a Phony Fake?
Jack seemed truly interested in Carly right from the start, but we all know he knew who he was headed to Bobbie’s to find. She had no idea who he was right away, and his involvement in “kidnapping” her someone inured Carly to him more.
Perhaps he knows how to read his marks that well, and she fell for it. Maybe he knew she was the lynchpin to sink her world, and that the more he pulled her family into it, the less strength and resolve she would have to put behind Sonny, who could be his ultimate target.
