General Hospital Spoilers: This Is The Only Way Drew Can Be Redeemed, Or Can He?

General Hospital: Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison)

General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal the character of Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) has become so hated he’s been written into a corner-can he be redeemed, or can he?

It seems the only way he can be redeemed and more like the original Drew, played by Billy Miller, is for the writers to do some emergency rewrites-here are some examples.

General Hospital Spoilers: Done Before, But Makes Sense—

Viewers will remember brain tumor redemptions have been done before, with Drew’s former foster brother Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) for example. Some fans didn’t buy Franco’s redemption, but for him to cut himself off from Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and her sons at the end proved a change.

As it turned out, Franco was killed before his second brain tumor, this one inoperable, could kill him-he wanted Liz and the boys to stay away, he was afraid he’d hurt them.

The idea of Drew having developed a brain tumor that’s not been diagnosed makes sense, his son, Oscar Nero (Garren Lake Stitt) died of a brain tumor. Although Drew hasn’t complained of headaches, there could be scar tissue from the brain chip he had or a brain injury or aneurysm from his beating in Pentonville, influencing his misbehavior.

GH Spoilers: Perhaps Drew Isn’t Drew At All?

The last time we saw anything like Drew as himself at all was before he went to Pentonville for Carly Spencer (Laura Wright). He and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) were trying to pull off a merger with ELQ, and Carly knew about it, and bought a whole lot of stock in Aurora to inflate the price.

So, she was guilty of insider trading, but the thought at the time was the Feds were using that to get intel on Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) through Carly.

Drew, one among a group of others, rescued Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) from Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) in time to donate bone marrow to Willow-but he wasn’t the only hero! We know it was Drew who brought back Liesl, with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) presumed buried in a tunnel-but what if after that an imposter was brought in?

General Hospital Spoilers: Could “Drew” Be An Imposter Or A Doppelganger?

By the time Drew went to Pentonville, Victor was dead, but Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) was alive and practically in charge of the prison-at one point, Drew did save Cyrus’ life.

This was when he had a major heart attack after a prison beating by an inmate who didn’t respect Cyrus’ position in the prison. It’s true Victor was more of a doppelganger user and brainwasher than Cyrus, but anything is possible in Port Charles.

Is it possible that somehow during the time Drew was in Pentonville, there could have been a switch made, and the Drew who’s turned into a monster be brainwashed or an imposter?

The real Drew could still be imprisoned somewhere, and Cyrus might be responsible-after all, he kept Nikolas Cassadine’s (Adam Huss) survival a secret!
