Steve Burton On Rising Above Adversity With Maurice Benard

General Hospital (GH) star Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) took a hiatus from the show, and many fans seem unhappy about it. Well, it’s interesting that on Sunday, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) chose to repost an interview with him on State of Mind. The original arrived in June of 2024.

Not Everybody Hates Steve

While one might expect that ABC fans asked about rumors of marriage problems between Steve and his wife Michelle Lundstrom, that didn’t happen. Actually, it seems only a small fraction of GH fans suspect something went wrong to cause his hiatus. And even if they did feel suspicious, the contents of the State of Mind episode certainly seemed to overshadow that.

The interview revealed a very emotional Maurice. There were reports that over the Easter period, he was committed to a live fan event. So, that probably accounts for the repost titled STATE OF MIND with MAURICE BENARD: STEVE BURTON PART 2.

Mental Toughness And Routine

In the discussion, the General Hospital stars talked about mental toughness, and the power of a strict morning routine, to help overcoming personal adversity. Steve Burton discussed the daily habits that helped him during a difficult time in his life. These days, GH fans are well aware that he uses his experiences to help others.

The real-life Jason Morgan spoke about the importance of raising one’s “vibrational state” through intentional action. Notably, he felt that way too many folks live in a low state characterized by “anxiety, fear, worry, regret, shame, [and] remorse.” How does he get around that? Well, he gets up at like 4:00 in the morning. And, he focuses on starting his day in a state of gratitude and peace.

Turning Trials Into Positives

Maurice Benard liked the positivity, and he also talked about Steve’s motivation levels. He also liked the way his friend and co-star talked about how even the bad times are converted into positives because trials are necessary “to be able to do what you’re doing now.”

Life is tough, and make no mistake, that happens to every single person on the planet. So, perhaps that’s why ABC fans were so quick to send praise in the comments.

One viewer opined:

This was excellent. Steve is spot on with everything he said. I for one try to do the things he says every day. Getting to a place of gratitude. Thanking God each and every day. Having a strong connection and faith is what helps me every day. I used to think so negatively. And nothing went right. But like Steve said you don’t wake up happy and say this is the day. You have to get to that place each and every day.

Here are a few more responses from the discussion:

  • This deserves to be watched again and again. Very powerful. A lot to be learned here.
  • Everything Steve said is true to allay anxiety and lead a grateful life.
  • Right on, Steve! My social media header says “Gratitude, Love, Forgiveness & Compassion.” Have been a Christian for a long time, and practicing these things has changed my life.
  • I adore both of you. Steve you inspire me every day, Maurice I love you for your passion.
