General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal that in the aftermath of Monica Quartermaine’s (Leslie Charleson) passing, several other GH alumni died

. The writers spill the tea about tribute episodes for other characters, such as Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) and Lesley Webber (Denise Alexander).

Monica’s Death And Memorial Are On The Minds Of The Show’s Decision Makers

The September episodes featuring Dr. Monica Bard Quartermaine’s (Leslie Charleson) death and memorial are likely on the minds of the show’s decision-makers, who need to keep track of notable episodes throughout the year.

It took some time, for various reasons, to bring Monica’s passing to our screens (Charleson passed away in January).

Nevertheless, the show paid a wonderful tribute to her — TV Insider even recognized Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine) and Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) as our Daytime Performers of the Week.

Unfortunately, Charleson’s death is not the only loss that the GH company has faced in recent years.

In 2025 alone, cherished cast members Denise Alexander (Dr. Lesley Webber), Tristan Rogers (Scorpio), and Chris Robinson (Dr. Rick Webber) also passed away.

Rick Webber Was Killed Off On The Show, But Lesley And Robert Are Alive Off-Screen

While Rick’s character was written off back in 2002 (after his character was killed off with a retcon story that portrayed him as a villain), Lesley and Robert are still alive, off-screen.

Alexander joined GH in 1973 after the ABC soap attracted her away from her notable role as Susan Martin on Days of our Lives. She portrayed the character until 1984, receiving a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1976.

The actress returned to GH in 1996 and appeared on a recurring basis until 2021. Rogers became part of the ABC soap as WSB superspy Robert Scorpio in 1980; he stayed on the show until 1992, after that, also recurring frequently.

Both Characters Have Been Presumed Dead At Different Times

Similar to Lesley, Robert was thought to be dead; in 2006, viewers discovered that Scorpio was actually alive-Rogers appeared on the show intermittently until last July.

In early September, TV Insider interviewed GH’s co-head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten regarding their intentions for memorial episodes featuring Monica and Robert.

They disclosed that a tribute centered on Robert Scorpio was planned for the future, stating, “He is greatly missed, and we intend to honor Tristan and Robert in the same manner as we did for Leslie and Monica.”

But Denise Alexander’s death happened several months before anyone knew. She died last March, and it wasn’t publicized until months later.

Will There Be A Tribute To Lesley Webber As Well?

Last week, during the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards red carpet event, TV Insider reconnected with Korte and Van Etten. It was to discuss their plans to pay tribute not only to Rogers’ Robert but also to Denise Alexander’s Lesley.

“We are definitely planning to do that,” Van Etten shared with TV Insider after the show secured the award for Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team at the Daytime Emmys.

“Our aim is to ensure that we achieve the same objective we have with the narrative of Monica’s passing. We want to create a story that will carry Lesley and Robert’s names into the future, allowing us to feel their presence for many years ahead.

Korte And Van Etten See The Value In Writing Memorials For Characters Whose Portrayers Have Passed Away

Similar to numerous daytime head writers, Korte and Van Etten recognize the significance of crafting memorials for characters following the death of their actors.

Korte expresses, “Monica was a cornerstone of General Hospital. She embodied the essence of the Quartermaines, who represent our wonderfully eccentric family.

It was crucial to depict the entire cast, particularly Jason and Tracy, not only for the sake of those characters but also in honor of the actors who portrayed them.” And the same will be done for Lesley Webber and Robert Scorpio.
