General Hospital spoilers note Laura Collins (Genie Francis) has won the office of Mayor of Port Charles for another four years, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to be keeping it. Laura is struggling deeply with the role she has played in Professor Henry ‘Hank’ Dalton’s (Daniel Goddard) disappearance.
Finding his dead body in her trunk on the side of the road left her in shock. She never imagined she would have called Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) in a moment of panic like that, but that’s exactly what she did. Having him clean up her mess isn’t exactly what she was asking for either.
She might have appreciated a bit more leeway and strategy, or communication even, before he moved forward with cleaning up someone else’s murder and making her a part of it. Now, we’re left to wonder who’s going to find out first that Laura was in cahoots with Sonny on getting rid of Dalton.
This Can’t Be That Easy
It seemed too good to be true that someone planted a body in Laura’s trunk and had no plans for the outcome of that scheme. Someone wanted her to get caught with Dalton’s blood on her hands, so to speak.
But placing his corpse in her car for her to find another time was far from convenient if they didn’t get anything out of it. “They” being Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), of course. So that’s why so many of us, myself included, suspect someone was keeping tabs on Laura the whole time.
Say, someone like Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo) or Pascal (Marc Forget). How likely is it that someone saw the whole thing go down and witnessed Sonny rescue Laura, and then watched as Jason disposed of everything?
GH Spoilers Gossip Laura’s Opponents Win Again?
It’s not a big leap for Laura to assume she knows who was behind this, but is she thinking about the man pulling the strings as being the one who stands to gain the most? On the surface, it might seem like Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove) — who just lost the mayoral election to Laura — could have had something to do with this.
But Ezra was just a pawn for Drew, and somewhat for Sidwell. He was the catalyst to try to dominate Port Charles’ waterfront operations. If she is suddenly removed from office over a scandal, will Ezra end up the mayor, and what will that mean for Port Chuck?
She Could Do the Noble Thing
Just because rumors are circulating that Laura may not remain the Mayor of Port Chuck, that doesn’t mean she’s going to be impeached or that the election is going to be overturned.
Quite the contrary, it could mean that Laura ousts herself from the office and resigns because of her discomfort over what she has done and how she is as complicit as her opponents painted her to be when it comes to Sonny.
Knowing Laura, her morals and soul matter to her more than votes, power, and a title. But Sonny isn’t going to be keen on her confessing. It sounds like things are about to get rather tricky. Will Laura’s guilty conscience eat at her enough to push her to go against Sonny, and will he let that happen? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to see how this plays out.
