Say it isn’t so! If there’s one thing that all General Hospital fans can agree on, it’s the fact that the show just wouldn’t be the same without Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) on the canvas, right?
Sonny Secretly Retiring From The Mob?
Well, that’s the reason why there are some viewers out there worried about what’s to come as there’s some speculation suggesting that Sonny might soon be retiring from the mob. Who else is going to run the streets of Port Charles, right?
Well, luckily actor Maurice Benard, who is best known for his role as Sonny Corinthos on the hit ABC soap, clarified a few things online.
When one fan of the show wrote on social media, “I’ve been thinking that Sonny has secretly retired from the mob. He’s just chilling with Fiz and giving out grandpa advice to Gio,” it didn’t take long for Maurice to respond.
He said, “Sonny’s coming back with a vengeance and everybody thinks he isn’t better watch out.”
Then again, it was also hinted that Maurice might be getting tired of the onscreen mob life.
What’s Next For Sonny Corinthos?
Not only that, but there’s also heavy speculation suggesting that Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) might be just as desperate for a long vacation from this fictional city of Port Charles, just like his co-worker and good friend, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
It was just announced by Steve himself that he was planning on taking several long months off from the soap and that he was looking to get back to work sometime later this year.
However, Steve made it clear that his decision to take a break has nothing to do with his contract, nor does it have to do with his personal life or his health for that matter. He just wants to focus on his marriage and his family and come back when the time is right.
So far Maurice Benard himself has not made any additional comments about the matter just yet.
