General Hospital spoilers and updates tease fans have argued well over a year now, that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) hasn’t seemed to be himself. Fans are exploding over a theory that Drew was switched in prison with a lookalike, and this Drew isn’t Drew at all!
It Has Now Been A Year Since That Fateful Fourth Of July Night
Currently in Port Charles, it has been exactly one year since Drew and Willow Corinthos, now known as Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), shared a kiss on the Fourth of July. This ignited a shocking romance that ultimately led to Michael Corinthos’s (Rory Gibson) betrayal-naturally, Drew wasn’t behaving quite normally even back then.
Months prior to that explosive kiss, Drew abruptly ended his relationship with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) solely due to her friendship with the resurrected Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).
He also had a tumultuous affair with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and subsequently ran for congressman while executing his grand scheme to take control of Port Charles.
Compare that to Drew before he was kidnapped and held hostage by Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy)-he wouldn’t even sleep with the mother of his late son Oscar Nero (Garren Lake Stitt).
Could A Murdered Murderer Return From “The Dead?”
A fan proposed a theory regarding Drew’s unusual behavior: “I think Drew is going to be killed, which will kick off a whodunnit storyline. I also suspect that Drew was swapped in prison with a doppelgänger by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and Carly’s new boyfriend Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), and that Cyrus is actually alive.” Viewers might remember the connection between Brennan and Cyrus, as well as how they initially collaborated.
Given that Cyrus was incarcerated in Pentonville at the same time as Drew, it’s quite plausible to think he was replaced with a lookalike following his assault. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) even recently mentioned that Drew has changed since the incident.
Brennan Covered Up Cyrus’ Death After Blackmailing Josslyn Jacks
Recently the script has been flipped to have Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) have joined the WSB voluntarily to take down Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
However, the way it started, Josslyn was deep in grief over the death of Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) and went after Cyrus-Brennan saw her shoot him. He then covered up his death, blackmailing Josslyn into joining the WSB for his covering it up.
But it’s possible that Brennan faked Cyrus’ death, and there’s always been something fishy about him suddenly being released from Pentonville to leading a new WSB field office! Might Brennan have plans to bring back the digitalis killer to again inflict mayhem on Port Charles?

The main point of the above spoiler is I do believe Cyrus is alive with Brennan setting Joss up for the crime in order to allow her to become a part of the WSB. If this is where the story is going, I am glad Brennan #1 decided to leave canvas. Not too impressed with Brennan #2. The Ava/Cody foolishness is just that and should have never been penned in my opinion. The RIck/Liz possible reunion is also a disaster when it comes to Liz as Rick can only be a good guy for a short period of time as Liz needs someone more stable and honest.
Just please get “Drew” off of GH for good, and NO doppelgänger or twin story! CM has done such a good job of convincing us Drew is evil incarnate that we can’t stand to look at him any more! I can’t even force myself to watch him in a Hallmark movie! He will never be accepted by fans as a “good Drew” on GH again!
