General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that fans are gearing up for Michael Corinthos’ (Chad Duell) exit, which is coming very soon in the new year.

While he could depart storylines a number of ways, there’s a good chance the writers at the soap are already starting to build an angle.

GH spoilers suggest the soap could be dropping clues that Micheal will exit via a prison sentence. After all, during the Wednesday, December 18 show, he and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) put their plan in motion to take over Aurora and were successful in every way.

Of course, Michael’s need to roll out the sketchy plan was to get back at Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) for sleeping with his wife, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen).

Meanwhile, Curtis’ feathers were ruffled when he realized Drew’s change of heart regarding his CEO status at Aurora after Drew heads to Washington.

After Michael signed a contract indicating that Curtis would be Aurora’s CEO for the next five years, the two leaked an inaccurate report to the media, which made it seem as if the company was going bankrupt.

This caused a ripple effect where the stock plummeted, and Michael was able to buy enough of Aurora’s stock to become the majority stakeholder.

In the aftermath of the scheme, Drew questioned what the SEC would think of Michael’s move; however, as fans know, and Curtis was quick to point out, Drew doesn’t have the best relationship with the organization, so it’s unlikely that he’d ever get anywhere with them if he told them about what Michael did.

Still, there’s someone else in Port Charles who isn’t fond of Michael, who might drop the hammer on running to the authorities about all this.

GH Spoilers: The Nina Reeves Factor

As much as Nina can’t stand Drew, she’s also bent on keeping Willow away from Micheal. Now that Willow and the kids are staying with Nina, she finally feels she’s established a solid relationship with her daughter – something she’s dreamed about forever.

Plus, as Nina is working overtime to ensure Willow gets full custody of Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko), she may try and secure this with an ace in the hole.

After all, it’s been pointed out multiple times that as a Quartermaine, with Michael’s money and power, it would be unheard of for any judge to appoint Willow full-time custody of the kids.

Nina tipped off the SEC about Drew and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) for insider trading, creating a domino effect in storylines that led to Drew’s Pentonville stint.

Could lightning strike twice? Could Nina overhear what Michael did with Aurora and get Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) to call the organization, and tip them off about another illegal act?

While there are no immediate plans to recast Michael, being sent off to prison could easily open a door for a return, whether Chad Duell steps back into the role or if the show decides to recast the character.
