General Hospital Spoilers: Lucas Performs Sam’s Surgery — and He’ll Never Recover From Losing Her

General Hospital spoilers reveal Dr. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) has returned to GH, and he’s about to tackle one of the more interesting surgeries he’ll ever perform. While the transplant surgery is pretty routine on Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) end, she was taken aback to hear anyone but her brother would be performing it.

Maybe she should have known about the conflict of interest that would present, or that it might not even be something her brother was comfortable with, but she has managed to convince him to do it.

Now, it could become the next thing in a long line of traumas he has endured in Port Charles that leaves him wanting to head for the hills once again.

General Hospital Spoilers — Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy

Lucas made it seem like it was no big deal that Sam wanted him to perform her surgery. He was perfectly happy to concede and agree to take on the case — feeling quite comfortable that Lulu Falconeri’s (Alexa Havins) end of the transplant was the difficult part. Sam’s should be easy breezy with no complications.

Key words: should be. It is becoming quite clear that something is going to go horribly wrong during the surgery. Will Sam’s blood be on Lucas’ hands?

GH Spoilers Hint Sam’s Peace of Mind Comes First

Lucas is just trying to be a good big brother. He could see the concern wash over Sam’s face the moment she realized he wouldn’t be performing her surgery. He wanted to do anything that he could to ease her nerves.

The last thing anyone needed was Sam backing out because Lucas wasn’t on board to be her doctor. At the same time, he knew he was putting himself in a rather compromising position.

But she asked him, point blank, whether he had any concerns about his ability to operate on his own sister and he said no. That wasn’t a lie.

General Hospital Spoilers — Who Will Help Lucas Through This?

Despite not having had any concerns, it’s the unspeakable surprise complication during surgery that may leave Lucas feeling like he wants to head for the hills. He already ran away from Port Charles before when things went south for him.

He just couldn’t fathom coming to work every day and having to see Brad Cooper (Parry Shen), or running into Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) with his parents. Now, he will see reminders of Sam everywhere — especially at the hospital.

Will he be able to stick this out and heal from the loss he feels partly responsible for? Can someone else help him through it? Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) might want to, and she means well, but she’s pretty preoccupied with her own life.

Who else might end up in Lucas’ corner? Is this how Brad weasels back into it? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
