General Hospital spoilers tease that Laura Collins (Genie Francis) has been mayor of Port Charles for several years now. But unfortunately, that time may be coming to a close. Laura has been an excellent mayor but various circumstances have kept her from actually being in Port Charles for quite a bit of that time. She spent several months in Washington DC during her first year and threats from both Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) have also forced Laura out of town.
General Hospital Spoilers – Where Is Nikolas Cassadine?
Victor recently died after his attempt to kill much of the world’s population was thwarted. Laura worried that Victor was responsible for the disappearance of her son, Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma). So when Victor left Nikolas a property in Russia in his will, Laura wondered if that’s where Nikolas was as well. She has decided to venture to a foreign country in the hope of finding her son. She will be accompanied by her husband, Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom).
General Hospital Updates – Can Laura Collins Still Function As Mayor?
Unfortunately, this trip will likely keep Laura away from Port Charles for several weeks, if not months. Since her deputy mayor was also killed by Victor, Laura may not have someone who can run the city while she is away. She may have to consider leaving her elected position as she takes another extended trip away from the city. But who could run Port Charles if Laura does indeed decide it’s time for her to resign?
Ned Quartermaine For Mayor!
During the last election, Laura ran against Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth). After his defeat, Ned went back to ELQ but the transition hasn’t been an easy one. Both Drew Cain (Cameron Matheson) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) have challenged Ned at the family company. Rather than continue to fight with his family, perhaps Ned could take over for Laura. Not only would Ned do a terrific job, but Laura knows she could trust him to take over.
