General Hospital spoilers and updates tease that Esmé Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) memory might return, but she’ll keep faking amnesia in order to keep her new start. She recently was triggered by something as she spoke to Mac Scorpio (John J. York) in her hospital room, referring to her newborn as “Ace”.
General Hospital Spoilers: Her Fear Was Real
Esmé, previous to her captivity and amnesia, was very conniving and an inveterate liar, with some doubting she has had amnesia to begin with. However, it takes a great deal of psychological torment and desperation for an eight month pregnant woman to set her room on fire and dive off a parapet in the winter. But her terror when with “Daddy” Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) alone in the woods as she faced a dry labor alone, told the tale that her amnesia was real.
She was too terrified to let him help her back to Wyndemere to have her baby safely, even though she wound up running back alone. However, a clue in the episode of February 24 points to her memories returning soon.
GH Spoilers: Her Ace In The Hole
When talking about her newborn baby boy in her hospital room at GH to Mac Scorpio (John J. York) she suddenly thanked him in behalf of herself and “Ace”-the baby. She wasn’t sure why she called him that, but that was her name for him while pregnant and a prisoner of Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss)-for her “ace in the hole”.
She actually talked to her baby quite a bit, and although she couldn’t connect the name “Ace” to anything she remembered, it seemed to sound right. However, she still remained pretty confused about where that name came from-and another sign of “triggering” came when her eyes teared up upon hearing Ryan was dead. Considering she was afraid of him in Spring Ridge and after their family escape, that has to be a buried memory, and this “triggering” is a sign of her memories returning.
General Hospital Spoilers: A New Perception
Monday, March 6 finds Esmé with a new perception – this means she’ll have a new way of looking at things, or perhaps it’s a way of saying she gets her memory back. The “old” Esmé may return, but with a brand new perspective – she may find she likes being treated as more than just a twisted criminal schemer. Her whole personality changed when she was amnesiac, and that may prove the psychologist’s theory of nature versus nurture; she couldn’t believe she’d done the things she’s been accused of.
Plus, becoming a brand new mother seems to have changed her for the better-holding sweet innocence in her arms instead of an “ace in the hole” meaning something to use. Even though she may be lying about getting her memories back, if it’s so she can keep her new start, that spells redemption.
