General Hospital spoilers reveal that someone shot Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) in the back. The man isn’t dead yet. While paralysis is a concern, Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) is working to save the man, just as he would any other patient.
Could the gunned-down congressman end up fighting back after his recovery, though?
Drew Cain’s Return
Let’s start off by talking about Drew’s most recent return. The man was a hero and saved Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) when she was dying of cancer. However, things have changed drastically since then. First, Drew made a couple of devious moves, and then turned into a full-on bad boy!
Cameron Mathison’s Reluctance
When Mathison first heard his character was turning into a villain, he was a bit hesitant. However, now he really enjoys it as it’s a “little fantasy escape.” Now the actor has gotten into a groove of just going with the flow as far as his character is concerned.
Character’s Disgusting Transformation
General Hospital spoilers reveal that Mathison told Soap Opera Digest that in order to set up the shooting twist, Drew had to be taken to some disgusting places. Even the actor himself was surprised by a few of Drew’s extreme moves. Although Cameron is a nice guy in real life, he can play a bad guy really well! It wasn’t always easy for the actor, though.
A while back, Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) hinted last month that Drew was turning into J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman). Mathison said something similar himself.
“You know, I watched Dallas back in the day, and in many ways, it’s very in line with the ‘Who Shot JR?’ story. I don’t care if you are the punching bag for all of Port Charles, you’re still the center of the story and that feels really cool.
I’m like, ‘Bring it on! Let me be the punching bag! I got this — and I’m gonna punch right back!’”
Right now, we don’t know if Drew is going to survive the shooting or not. It sounds like he might, though. So, who really shot Drew, and how will it affect his future? Lucas mentioned that he was worried that Drew could be paralyzed as the bullets were close to his spine.
Then, Portia offered to help scrub in. I’m not so sure if Portia’s goal is to save that patient, though!
If Drew does survive, he could end up in a coma. The man might claim that he doesn’t remember anything, and could even take on a new persona. So, stay tuned to find out how exactly Drew “punches back!”
