General Hospital spoilers and updates tease Gio Palmieri’s (Giovanni Mazza) birth parents are about to be revealed. The big question here is if Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) ever told Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) about Gio’s birth father, once Sonny found out about his secret son!
Lois, Sonny And Olivia Were Bensonhurst Buddies
Lois, Sonny, and Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) grew up together in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, forming a strong bond. Their children, Brook Lynn Quartermaine Chase (Amanda Setton) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), have also become close; however, over the years, secrets have emerged. The biggest shock was when Sonny discovered that Dante was his son, especially after he accidentally shot him-Olivia kept them apart for years due to the dangers of Sonny’s life.
Now, they enjoy a solid father-son relationship, while Lois and Sonny have always shared everything, with Lois often being the one who can reach him. Currently, she is keeping a huge secret that makes her and her friend grandparents to the same child.
Sonny Has Been One Of Those Friends Who Are So Close They’re Like Family
Brook Lynn and Dante had a relationship at camp, which led to Brook Lynn becoming pregnant; this situation is confusing for many reasons, but we’ll accept it.
Brook Lynn only confided in her mother, who said she would arrange for the baby to be adopted; instead, she gave the baby to a Cerullo cousin nearby. Both of the baby’s parents have since passed away, and now the baby is an adult named Gio and he’s living with the Quartermaines as a Port Charles University student.
It appears that Lois is the only one aware of the real story, but Sonny also seems to know something-it’s just unclear how much he knows.
He has been quietly supporting Gio for years, and Gio calls him “Uncle Sonny,” just like Brook Lynn does, as a close family friend.
Sonny Wouldn’t Have Known About Gio Being His Grandson Before Knowing About Dante Being His Son
The mob boss likely didn’t realize he was “Grandpa Sonny” to Gio because he was unaware that Dante was his son. However, he might have known that BLQ was Gio’s biological mother without knowing who the father was, and he could have been keeping that secret for Lois.
It’s possible that Lois later revealed to him that Dante was the dad-it’s a bit complicated!
Sonny has his flaws, but he is also kind; it makes sense that he would help Lois support Gio and his adopted family, regardless of whether he knew the whole story.
His reaction when everything is revealed will be intriguing; he might be surprised, or maybe not.
