General Hospital spoilers report Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) made a pretty significant error last week when he was chatting with Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) and made the comment that he had yet to meet Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke).
Way back when, Claudette Beaulieu (Bree Williamson) — Nathan’s ex-wife — came back to Port Charles and she had a young Charlotte in tow.
At the time, she was running quite the scheme and told Nathan he was Charlotte’s father. He spent a lot of time getting to know Charlotte and forging a bond with her, just to find out later that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) was actually her “papa.”
A convoluted story of who Charlotte’s mother was would follow, with the truth ultimately coming out that Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) stole one of Lulu and Dante Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna) frozen embryos — yes, embryos, meaning GH pulled a retcon and somehow made this baby come out the product of Lulu and Valentin, sans Dante.
Go figure! Regardless, Nathan was well aware of the entire saga and played a role in it for a short time. But this week he’s claiming he hopes he gets to meet Charlotte soon.
Make It Make Sense
It would’ve made more sense had Nathan said he didn’t get a chance to see Charlotte yet. It even would’ve gelled well with the storyline if he had said he couldn’t wait to see her, practically all grown up.
Instead, he spoke of her like he’d been gone all her life — not just the last seven years of it. Knowing he thought this was his daughter once upon a time, we’re left wondering if this was an oversight on the part of GH writers, or if Nathan is actually an imposter who slipped up and didn’t know it when he made this remark. But that doesn’t explain Lulu’s next move.
GH Spoilers Tease Lulu May Not Have Made the Connection Yet
The fans expected that Lulu was going to lean into him or at least speculate why he spoke of Charlotte that way, but she did no such thing.
In fact, she remained focused on Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) and had little to say about her daughter, or Nathan’s past entanglement with her.
Now, we’re left to wonder whether this is yet another retcon where we’re supposed to forget Nathan’s past with Charlotte for some reason, or if this is Lulu’s own oversight and we have to wait for her to catch up and connect the dots.
Watch Out for That Plot Hole!
If this is another retcon, the fans already aren’t loving it. If Nathan is supposed to be sharp as a tack in every other element, we’d expect that he would have his past down pat.
Even if this is an imposter, he’s managed to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes so far, and not knowing this one detail makes him seem like an amateur.
Will we have to wait for Nathan to slip up again — or for someone like Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) or Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) to catch him — before anyone notices what is going on? Or, will this comment be written off as nothing more than GH forgetting its own past again? Keep checking back for more GH news and spoilers right here every day.
