2025 started with a literal bang on General Hospital. Someone planted explosives in Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Bernard) penthouse, and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) barely survived the flames.
He is still in a German clinic recuperating from third-degree burns, and there is no indication that he will be able to return to Port Charles anytime soon.
General Hospital Spoilers: Sonny Has Finally Found A New Home
Two months after the blast, Sonny has finally found the perfect spot for his family – Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) old digs.
The property is plush, has all of the best amenities, and it is a fortress complete with 12-foot hedges. Security is Sonny’s top priority, especially since the case is still open on his bombed-out penthouse. ( DON’T MISS OUR NEXT WEEK SPOILERS HERE!)
General Hospital Spoilers: Jason Doesn’t Think That Sidwell Planted The Explosives
Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) held Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) at gunpoint and asked him point blank if he was responsible. Sidwell didn’t skip a beat while explaining that it wasn’t him.
The importer arrived in Port Charles at the same time as the bombing, and Sonny had held his diamonds for a few days, making him look like a vengeful, plausible suspect.
According to Sidwell, the timing was coincidental. Once Jason returned his diamonds to him, he no longer had an issue with Sonny. Jason told Sonny about his conversation and has said that he believes Sidwell isn’t responsible.
General Hospital Spoilers: Jack Brennan And The WSB Are Also Suspected
Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) has been in Port Charles for the last year, heading the WSB, and the explosives that were planted were the kind that they have access to.
Sonny and his business are always in question and can be targeted just to take him out of the game altogether, but Jack doesn’t seem to have a real issue with him at this point. He can come up with one if he wants to, but as of right now, he has much bigger things to focus on.
General Hospital Spoilers: Drew Is Emerging As A Suspect
If you think back to what was going on in Port Charles at the time of the explosion, Michael and Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) were at the beginning stages of what was about to turn into a messy custody battle.
She had hooked up with his uncle, Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison), which was caught on the nanny cam. It was also broadcast to all the Quartermaines over Christmas, adding to the embarrassment.
Willow moved out, and Michael filed for divorce and wanted his kids. Drew was once a Navy Seal, so he knows his way around explosives.
He is now a Quartermaine and a Congressman, so he has access to whatever he wants. A firebombing at Sonny’s could be used in court as proof that Michael might be unsafe for his kids to be around.
Drew could have intended to give Willow some leverage for custody, but instead, he took Michael completely out of action for months.
