Can Port Charles Survive Without Sonny?
Some longtime fans of the show think that the show is becoming too “top heavy” with the mob element. But, if you break down what would really be left from the show if you removed the mob storyline, General Hospital just wouldn’t be as intriguing.
Clearly, the internet had a lot to say about where the show would be headed without Sonny Corinthos front and center.
Some even commented with, “The hospital itself is a shell now you see conversations at the receptionist desk and convos at the elevators and rarely sometimes in Portia’s office. Used once really in the last 2 months for a ST Neds heart attack very briefly showed no visitors you only knew it happens because they told you.”
“So what’s left you have Drew and Willow storylines yuck. Storylines about Trina and her parents. A WSB/Spy evil genius plot that is taking forever. Is Carly enough to keep things going without Sonny and Jason.”

Another critic wrote, “There will come a time when there is no Sonny, and the writers and audience need to prepare for that by reducing his role. No matter how many bottles of shoe polish they go through, Mr. Bernard is old, and Sonny is stale.”
And then there was this comment as well: “He’s old enough that he doesn’t seem to care about his performance, and he’s too old for Sonny to act the way he did when he was thirty trying to seduce yet another DA. But even if he isn’t, my statement still stands. The show needs to prepare for his absence.”
It goes without saying that General Hospital fans will simply have to tune in each and every day to find out what will happen next.

Sonny is worn out with all of the drama that everyone he is connected to in their lives and businesses. You have seen Sonny doing any mob activity in a very long time. It’s not gone but with Sidwell coming into town to take Sonny’s docks for his racketeering operations, Sonny is ready to protect and defend Port Charles the way he has for many years now. I think Brick needs to come in and work with Sonny and take over his business and protect Sonny’s family and the city he loves. By the way, other than his coffee business, I don’t know what else Sonny is into!
I know Sonny is going to retire but let him go out with dignity. They always come to him when a mess is made like Sidwell. Move Jason in his spot. They need a leader.
I agree!! Don't kill Sonny off or send his character to jail. Let him leave PC and move to another state or country like Lucky Spencer character went back to Africa!! 😂
