It looks like he did want to stay on after all. General Hospital star Marcus Coloma, who was best known for his role as Nikolas Cassadine, is making it no secret that he feels absolutely hurt after he was let go from the hit daytime television series. As many fans know by now, Marcus was fired from the soap, but why he was fired, no one really knows for sure. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

General Hospital News: Marcus Coloma Says It ‘Hurt’ To Be Fired From The Soap

While on the That’s Awesome podcast, Marcus admitted that he’s now relocated from Los Angeles to Clearwater, Florida as he’s trying to reassess what next step he is going to take in his career. He said that when he first got the job as Nikolas Cassadine, he definitely knew what he was getting into. He said, “When I originally got offered GH, I wanted an intensive acting experience.

What I love about soap operas is the storylines and the problem-solving you have to do is next level. It’s such a high level of difficulty in a lot of ways; you don’t have all of the cool tricks [like special effects] that can help you in different genres. So originally, that’s why I wanted to do it. I was like, ‘I’m going to do it for three years; I want to walk out of this place a better actor.’ I knew I was going to be leaving in three years.”

Marcus also added that he loved working with the cast and crew. He explained, “You fall in love with the crew and everybody along with it. So, two and a half years in, this decision that was so clear in the beginning is getting complicated.”

General Hospital News: What’s Next For Marcus?

But he did say that he was disappointed that his contract with the soap wasn’t extended and that there weren’t even any talks about it being extended, either. He added, “I knew the end was coming… it wasn’t like GH was saying, ‘Hey, Marcus, we want you to stay.’ There was no negotiation. And all I can say to that is… I don’t know why that decision was made, but I don’t feel any ill will and I didn’t feel like I got fired. It just felt like… there was maybe an understanding that I was going to be there for three years. The big surprise is how much it hurt. Even though I knew I was going to leave.”

  • Don't think Nik should have been killed off; think Austin should have opened the closet and given cpr and he could have woken up.
Why is the music sleaze back? Why can't something good happen? When is Nina going to be found out for
everything she's done. Think Carly was wrong in hiding the truth re Willow and Nina, but don't really blame her; Nina hid Sonny's being alive for 9 months, even when there was a funeral.
The Hook story is really getting old. Is Heather really the Hook or could Ryan also be the hook or
    anyone else?
Re Willow, hope she's going to be around to raise her children; and really hope the baby pulls through without any complications. Time for some good things to happen, writers! Is that possible?

    • I agree with your entire comment.

From what I’m reading it sounds like Nicholas has been killed off. This is another mis-step just like letting Steve Burton go was. Not sure why these writers are destroying and/or getting rid of legacy characters.
They should have brought back Tyler Christopher. He’s the only actor to play Nicholas in the way it deserved to be played.

Don‘t get me started on Nina/Sonny. That entire storyline is one of the worst I’ve ever witnessed on GH, and that’s with me having watched GH since the mid 70s.
These writers have completely destroyed the Sonny character and have turned him into a whiny consummate victim. And for some reason Nina has become their fair-haired-child who is constantly rewarded for all of the despicable things she does.
You are right, it is high time for Nina to be recognized as the horrible person she is by having to deal with some consequences for all the pain and damage she has caused so many.

I miss watching GH but as long as the writing continues to go down the drain I haven better things to do. Maybe once Nina has so suffer the consequences for her selfishness and deceit I might return to watching.
