General Hospital Needs Some Couple Shuffling Again

General Hospital spoilers reveal more mismatched couples getting airtime, but why? It’s clear some pairs don’t work on screen as well as they work on paper and there’s usually a quick fix for this.

General Hospital Couple Endgame

First, we have Austin Holt (Roger Howarth) and Maxie Jones (Kristen Storms). It’s nice to learn that Austin has a mysterious past and is hiding something after a year of not knowing why Franco Baldwin was killed just to give us another character from Roger Howarth the show had no clue what to do with. So, now Austin will get more interesting. The problem is he is not and never will be interesting with Maxie because the two do not have any chemistry together.

However, there is one character on the show Maxie has always had chemistry with and that is Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), a man she was willing to marry and spend the rest of her life with and with whom she shares a child, little Georgie Spinelli. Maxie even recently told Spinelli that if she wasn’t with Austin, she would choose him. Um, ok, don’t be with Austin and choose Spinelli.

Maxie and Spinelli have always felt like endgame with one another as there is something between Kirsten Storms and Bradford Anderson that screams chemistry and quirky love story. Fans have been waiting for Spixie to happen again for years and it’s right there for the making at the moment. But then, what about Austin?

Austin Has A PC Soulmate

Well, there is a solution for the Austin problem too. Pair him with Britt Westbourne because Roger Howarth and Kelly Thiebaud have amazing chemistry together and Cody Bell is just an awful character and shouldn’t be paired with anybody. Sometimes it feels GH should go back to the drawing board for Josh Kelly and make him a different character, stat. Perhaps he can be Steven Webber or Lucky Spencer. Anyone but this horrible Cody Bell.

Whenever Howarth and Thiebaud share scenes, the chemistry is palpable and there is no reason not to take advantage of that except for the writers’ absolute stubbornness. They never care if a character or pairing isn’t working and refuse to change course, often until it’s too late and fans tune out. Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays to see if GH fixes this current mess.

  • It's ok for Britt an Austin to talk but do not have them hook up in a relationship..That's not good....The recast of Jason Morgan should be one one to hook up with Britt ,,she deserves that...

    • Cody could have been a match if he hadn't been written so poorly. Actors have been playing the parts as given from his first introduction to canvas and that first impression has stuck with fans. More male/female characters are very much needed as the GH couple shuffling merry-go-round is finally coming to a place whereby interesting pairings are no longer available with the cast that is on canvas as everyone has been with another character. Viewers become accustomed to characters who have been paired that worked chemistry wise in all aspects of a relationship. Then writers take the same character and decides to break up him/her to be switched with another that just doesn't work - best pairing in mind Jason/Sam. After SB returned to canvas, the two were never written as they once had been as a solid pairing. Then too, sometimes recasts, don't work either. It is a hard job to find actors that have all around chemistry and GH writers are finding that out.
