Kirsten Storms Talks GH Absence

The caption on the photo started with, “Despite everything that’s been going on in my life right now (…and I will be honest, it’s more than upsetting) – I still feel that the move to Tennessee was the best choice for me.
I might not be at the *best part* of this choice yet, but LA never felt like my real home.”
Storms added, “I’m grateful and really f*ing proud of the accomplishments I’ve achieved during my acting career, however my career started before I was out of elementary school.”

Storms went on to say how her life and work in California was chosen for her at a young age. She states that she’d been lucky to have maintained employment in the industry since her parents had relocated their family from Florida for her to become an actor.
Her Daughter Is Her World
Storms reveals in her Instagram caption, “I’m proud of myself for handling the majority of that on my own…but that life became the ONLY thing I knew how to do. Or thought I was capable of.”
Still, the actress noted that after she had her daughter, Harper, everything in life changed.
She stated, “I swear I’m not going to continue to bring up my medical situation (I’ll make jokes and it will be awkward), but until I began to understand how precious time is and how what we prioritize becomes ALL we have, there was never a thought that my life would ever change.”
She also talks a little about her ex-husband, Brandon Barash, who played Jake DiMera/Stefan DiMera on Days of Our Lives and Johnny Zacchara on General Hospital.

As such, Maxie fell into a coma after Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) purposely poisoned her, via skin cream, and was sent to a long-term care facility in Boston. She ‘woke up’ from her coma in February 2026. Still, she was only seen for about a month until she exited again.
Fast forward to June 2026, Storms hopped on IG to inform followers that she wasn’t heading back to the ABC soap anytime soon, noting, “I can’t say I will feel comfortable heading back to Los Angeles and returning to work.”
