General Hospital (GH) Spoilers: Steve Burton Knows People Are Frustrated, Refuses To Give Interviews

General Hospital fans know by now that Steve Burton has been let go as Jason Morgan on General Hospital. Fans are upset and several venues have asked to interview Burton but he refuses. Why won’t Burton speak about being let go?

Bradford Disagrees With Steve

General Hospital’s Burton got candid about his decision on his weekly “That’s Awesome With Steve And Bradford” podcast. “I’ve gotten a lot of requests for interviews, but I don’t want to do them, I have no interest, dude. Because I don’t want division. That’s the bottom line.” Bradford Anderson, who plays Damian Spinelli on the show says, “We’ve been friends for a long time, but like all friends, we have disagreements. And I disagree with Steve’s decision. He knows that. But over our years of friendship, we’ve had plenty of discussions about, well, things like this and other topics, and yes, sometimes we agree, sometimes we don’t, but at the end of the day we are still friends.”

Steve Refuses To Discuss It

General Hospital’s Burton has no desire to discuss the situation any future and says that doors are already opening for him in other places. Of course, Burton hasn’t discussed any of these possibilities so far but he assures fans that he will be okay. This is not the first time Burton has left the soap, the last time was in 2012 over dissatisfaction with the way authorities were handling his situation. In that case, there are certainly conflicting stories as to what happened. Burton was gone for five years then, leaving in 2012 and returning in 2017.

Burton Says He’s Willing To Return

General Hospital’s Burton said in his farewell video that he hoped to return to G.H. if the vaccine mandate was ever lifted. Fans know that Burton contracted COVID in August from someone at work. However, there is no knowing if the mandate will ever go away. Burton did say that he applied for both medical and religious exemptions to the shot and both were denied. Burton said in his statement, “but this is also about personal freedom to me. I don’t think anyone should lose their livelihood over this. But with that being said, you know me, I’ll always be grateful for my time at General Hospital, I love it there.”

Obviously, Burton is sad about losing his job at General Hospital, however, there is not much that can be done about it at this point. Unfortunately, medical professionals who deal with COVID daily can get exemptions to the shot but an actor cannot get an exemption to save his livelihood. Perhaps Burton will be back but if not, we wish him well in his future endeavors.

  • My question is, why does he need a shot? If he had Covid and recovered, doesn't he now have antibodies or natural immunity to it? Even more infuriating, isn't it too soon for him to receive the shot after recovering from Covid? Either way, it was just plain wrong to fire him!

    • Antibodies only protect the infected person not those around them…..vaccines give protection to everyone ……Steve knew the rules…..he does love scenes and is literally on top of people in scenes …actors are required to do that…he did that when he was positive which is alarming….he is not above following the rules that all jobs have one way or a other….he is a wonderful actor…but there is nothing exceptional about him to give him a pass….I will miss him but there are literally zero passages in the Bible giving him permission not to be vaccinated…..so his religious exception was rightfully turned down….rules are rules Steve…..

    • I agree. My family is vaccinated and way back I april. My daughter (healthy) is in her 20s and my husband (healthy) both had covid and were sick with covid 2 moths ago. They wear masks and still got. Strange......just saying.

  • steve i understand your decision but u will be oik iremember when u came on tv 1991 ihope udo ok on other places

  • I admire Steve so much for standing up for his FREEDOMS!! I feel NO ONE should be made to take a vaccine of any kind, it should be personal choice. Sad that people are losing their jobs! Steve we will miss you very much but I stand with your decision!! Hopefully Disney will have a change of heart in the near future.
