Insider trading might end up being the least of their worries when Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) hints around to the best safeguard they have in their toolkit being Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Carly was really hoping to keep her ex out of this. He always descended upon the situation at the PCPD, and while he did help them out, and she’s grateful, she also doesn’t want to muddy the waters between them. Carly won’t listen to this advice on the first go-round, but it could be Drew who ultimately convinces her to weather the storm with Sonny by her side if it’ll get them both through this without any long-term damage. As Carly’s past collides with her present, she’ll have to reconcile the feelings that come bubbling up when she moves back in with Sonny and pretends to be living her happily ever after — all while being required to keep her distance from Drew. Carly is certainly no stranger to this predicament. She’s been here before — and with Sonny, in fact. Without Drew’s approval, she would never go through with this, but it’s going to protect them both if Sonny can’t testify against Carly that she admitted she and Drew were together and did engage in insider trading. Couldn’t they just claim hearsay? Sure, but that wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining.

When Carly enters into marriage with Sonny again, it’s going to cause a major rift between the mob boss and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), so it might be safe to say they’ll already be on the outs by then. That being said, Drew will be wondering whether Carly can pull this off without letting old feelings come to the surface. Honestly, so will she, but neither will show their uncertainty to the other.
