General Hospital Cameron Mathison Talks How Backlash Against Drew Affects His Daughter

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that fans have some pretty strong feelings about Drew Cain, which sometimes spills over to Cameron Mathison. The soap actor recently hopped on to social media to talk about how all this affects his daughter.

Drew Cain Is Dastardly

Congressman Drew Cain is just about as vile as a soap villain can get, but the actor who portrays him, Cameron Mathison, seems like a decent guy. Sadly, some fans can’t distinguish this at times, and fans will not only throw hate Drew’s way, but Cameron’s too.

This is unfortunately affecting Cameron’s daughter, Leila Mathison. Cameron hoped on Instagram to shed some light on the situation.

In the IG post, he talks about a recent FaceTime call with Leila. He screen-recorded the call to give fans some insight into the hardship Leila was facing, and the caption read: Leila FaceTimed me after watching a YouTube compilation of some of my character Drew Cain‘s darker scenes on General Hospital.”

The caption goes to say that, At first, she was troubled by how despicable my character was, but then after reading the comments with so much hate and aggression towards me she needed to FaceTime and talk it out🥹”

He finishes the caption with, “Just posting this as a gentle reminder that when we make comments on social media, these people have kids and families and friends and are real people. Remember everyone, it’s just a character and I’m just doing my job😎”

Cameron Mathison Talks It Out

Unfortunately, the video didn’t record the sound and conversation Cameron had with Leila, so he did a voiceover. He states in the IG video, “Leila FaceTimed me after watching a YouTube compilation of some of my character Drew Cain‘s darker scenes on General Hospital.”

Mathison adds, “At first, she was troubled by how despicable my character was, but then after reading the comments with so much hate and aggression towards me she needed to FaceTime and talk it out.” He goes on to say, “Remember everyone, it’s just a character and I’m just doing my job. I love my job and I’m so grateful for all the support that I’ve got through the years believe me. But maybe this post will help keep in mind that there’s other things to consider.”
