Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) on General Hospital revealed her extremely vulnerable younger self this weekend. In her throwback post, she hinted at her self-consciousness, shyness, and how she felt intimidated by all of the other actors and actresses. Read on to find out more.
The Worst Day Ever
On Saturday this week, Finola took to her Instagram and shared another memory in tribute to Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio) who passed away in August. Her photos took fans back many years to 1985 when she debuted on the ABC daytime drama.
In her long caption, the real-life Anna Devane spoke about her wonderful memories. However, it seemed interesting to learn more about her mindset in her younger years. Aged 25 at the time, she looked impossibly young.
Apart from having a lot of fun with Tristan during the charity Starlight Foundation fundraiser, in her write-up about the day, the GH star told her fans that “it was my worst nightmare.”
Feeling Insecure & Intimidated
Fans who see Finola on-screen these days can’t really see the younger person that she once was. The actress recalled that she’d been involved in ballet. Soap Opera Digest reminded fans that Finola Hughes knew from her very first lesson that ballet was her calling, and at 11, she debuted as a gnome at Covent Garden.
However, active as she was indoors, she didn’t spend a lot of time doing outdoor activities. So, she explained how intimidated and shy she felt at the charity event. She wrote, in part:
July 1985… Anyone who knows me understands I am NOT sporty. Up to that point I had lived in a ballet studio and never worn shorts…This day was my worst nightmare, 100 degrees, lots of cute tan actors leaping and jumping, and shorts. Tris at one point lifted me up exuberantly and I hissed, ‘I’m so pale, stop!’
Next, after recalling how Tristan Rogers made her day somehow successful, she mentioned that Kristina Wagner (Felicia Jones) made her feel intimidated. “I remember seeing @kristinawagnr doing backflips in the field,” she added, noting, “I was so out of my comfort zone.”

Finola Hughes seems to have a much clearer memory of her vulnerable day as Kristina couldn’t really recall being so athletic. She said, “Backflips? I was a goofy person. Always have been. Still am. Missing Tristan.”
Well, it seems as clear as daylight to the real-life Anna Devane, who assured her GH co-star, “I distinctly remember you doing some kind of athletic gymnastic flippy thing with your long tan legs and beautiful hair!”
