GH Cameron Mathison Opens Up On His Burned Home
General Hospital (GH) star Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain) lost his home to the L.A fires and this week, he opened up more about it on The Jennifer Hudson Show. It came when he appeared alongside ABC stars Finola Hughes, Laura Wright, Donnell Turner, Tanisha Harper, and Maurice Benard.
Lots Of People Lost Their Homes In Los Angeles
Some TV viewers hate the coverage of homes lost to the California fires that housed famous people with wealth. However, their stories are important so others become aware of the other victims. Others from GH like Nancy Lee Grahn, (Alexis Davis) and her daughter, Kate took the time to buy supplies and distribute them to less fortunate people and animals.

When The Jennifer Hudson Show hosted the General Hospital actors, they discussed season 62. It was Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) who shared about the gathering, so fans had advance notice of the February 5 edition. However, it wasn’t all talk about the drama from ABC.
Jennifer Hudson Gets Real-Life Drew Talking
It was Jennifer who got the ABC star to talk about his home that burned up. She asked him, “Cameron, you lost your home?” And he acknowledged that it did happen. Encouraged to talk more, Mathison expressed his feelings for all the support he got.
Cameron Mathison said:
I’ve gotten so much love and support from my GH family from all of you. And I know for the thousands of others that are going through the exact same thing. [The suport] has made such a
huge difference… But the real answer is it’s one of the most unimaginably overwhelming logistical and
emotional traumas that you can imagine.

Putting on a brave face, Cameron added, “At the same time we’re all uh going to get through it step by step day by day putting the pieces back together.”
The audience and the cast applauded because apparently, Cameron doesn’t talk about the fire at work. Instead, he gets on with the job of being Drew Cain.
Fans See A Real Person
In the comments section on YouTube, the fact that Cameron opened up about his home reminded fans that actors are real people, just like them. One ABC fan wrote, “OK can we all agree that whether or not we like the character of Drew…clearly he is not his character so to see folks being mean to him is so weird.”
Here are more observations about GH actor:
- What people forget these are human beings just like us, who play parts on shows, movies, or whatever. It’s okay to like or dislike the character and what they do. But it’s just a character that they play.
- My all time favorite characters…Not on the show. But real life, I love ALL of these actors and actresses SO MUCH!”
Are you glad that some fans can set aside their hatred for Drew Cain and admire the man, Cameron Mathison? While he might have the money to rebuild, the trauma obviously upset him and his family. Shout out in the comments below and come back here often for all your General Hospital news and updates.
